111 sent an emergency ambulance for my 5 month old who has RSV an hour ago and nothing, I don't don't who do call the check what's going on 999 or 111 my daughter can nearly stay awake. Is this normal for emergency's or can't say I've ever had an emergency ambulance come out before

You can call back on 999 and ask on a wait time. I had to do it and it was complicated as I as calling an ambulance for someone in a different county. They were brilliant.
Might be quicker to get a taxi and just go asap to A&E though.

Call them.

Sharpness19 · 30/11/2023 11:48

Call 999 to chase it up. Hope she’s much better soon.

Dustpantsandbush · 30/11/2023 11:49

make your own way there if you can, you could be waiting hours

sandletown · 30/11/2023 11:58

Drive or take a taxi

Toddlerteaplease · 30/11/2023 12:00

Take her yourself.

KrisKringlee · 30/11/2023 12:00

Get a taxi?

BertieBotts · 30/11/2023 12:03

Take her to A&E yourself, phone 999 or 111 to ask them to cancel the ambulance for this reason.

If an ambulance hasn't come within an hour to a 5 month old who is struggling to breathe/stay awake, things are bad and someone else probably needs the ambulance just as much and is also having to wait. Also you will be seen quicker this way.

It's not an acceptable wait time but it is unfortunately not uncommon these days.

idontlikealdi · 30/11/2023 12:05

Take her yourself. We were given a 5 hour wait time minimum when my daughter had severe croup and stridor, she was turning blue and drooling (big red flag with croup).

I hope you get her there and that she recovers quickly.

cannockcandy · 30/11/2023 12:13

Agree with others here, if you can, take her yourself. Now, I live in a town 30 mins drive from the closest hospital and I don't drive, a taxi would be extortionate, but, I'd rather incur that cost. I do understand that not everyone has the money to do that though.
Please update us when you can. Keeping my fingers crossed for your daughter x

WaltzingWaters · 30/11/2023 12:19

Agree, take her yourself if you can (if you have someone else to travel with you and keep an eye on her), or take a taxi if not. Hope she’s okay 💐

Tomelette · 30/11/2023 12:22

My elderly dad waited 7 hours for an ambulance with a severe head injury. We were told not to attempt to move him ourselves at all.

If you can pick her up and get her in a car you're probably best taking her yourself.

Ambulance waits are atrocious these days. There was a 15hr wait in my area recently.

123deepbreath · 30/11/2023 12:27

Ambulance service won't give you a wait time as they can't predict what other jobs will come in. If you feel she has deteriorated and you have no way to get her to hospital then call back 999 and update them and they can reassess and maybe upgrade the call depending on the triage. If you can safely get her to hospital yourself call and cancel the ambulance by calling back 999.

Otherwise if her condition hasn't really changed its just a waiting game for a crew to get to you as soon as they can.

Hope she feels better soon!

olderbutwiser · 30/11/2023 12:27

999, but it’s unlikely they will be willing or able to give you an ETA unless the ambulance is actually outside your door. And it’s unlikely they will leave DD at home. How far are you from A&E and do you have someone who can travel with you?
