School parent deliberately coughing on me every morning

A school parent keeps deliberately coughing on me. We stand outside the gates and then in the play ground waiting to go in and they don’t cough for all that time. But As soon as they are next to me they fake cough really loud without covering their mouth or they deliberately clear their throat really loud behind me. This keeps happening every morning. I feel like it’s a way of trying to bully me without speaking to me. What would you do?

@jemenfous37
'Have you reported this to the authorities?'

Did you sniff glue before you wrote that? 😄

When you first see him stand as dar away as you can, behind him so you can see if he moves.

If he moves towards you walk away.

If he persists ask him WTF he's playing at

Erm, I would make sure I was standing far away from him.

If he actually took to chasing me around the playground I would stamp on his toes “accidentally”

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/11/2023 09:31

He probably just does that all day and it's nothing to do with you. Be glad you aren't married to him!

jemenfous37 · 30/11/2023 09:33

Yes!! 😁

Theunamedcat · 30/11/2023 09:33

Spray deodorant or perfume 🤔 give them something to cough about

Be on your phone and apologise for the mannerless idiot coughing in the background?

Ask the school to send out a message talking about hygiene in these winter times to stop the spread of illnesses with particular emphasis on coughing into your elbow (yes my child goes to a school who would really do this and has done over other petty behaviour 😄)

LubaLuca · 30/11/2023 09:37

It's unlikely he's decided to bully you, why would he? Do you ever speak to him, do you have any reason to think he's targeting you?

StuartSheehyisBack · 30/11/2023 09:37

Get some Soothers.

When he does it next time offer him one. Every time. Ramp it up to "You have had that cough for aaaages! I find these help" if he doesnt stop being an idiot

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/11/2023 09:39

Tell him to stop coughing at you.

Fraaahnces · 30/11/2023 09:40

Tell him to fuck off?

CarrieMoonbeams · 30/11/2023 09:40

I'd also get the cough sweets out and say, very loudly, "Ooh Brian, do you want to suck on a Fisherman's Friend?"

Allfur · 30/11/2023 09:40

Strike up a conversation with him

ladyofshertonabbas · 30/11/2023 09:40

yes, fisherman’s friend every day!

OP, do you wear perfume? maybe it’s a passive aggressive way of saying he doesn’t like it.

Wakeywake · 30/11/2023 09:40

Are you covered head to toe in perfume?

Namenamchange · 30/11/2023 09:41

If he’s bullying you stand up and speak out. Ask him if he’s ok, tell him he's had a cough for ages. every single time it happens. Then move away from him.

ComfyBoobs · 30/11/2023 09:41

Do you smoke or wear strong perfume?

PuzzledObserver · 30/11/2023 09:43

How strange. Is there some history here, as in - do you know his name, have had interactions with him in the past? If not, maybe he’s trying to attract your attention, and is going about it in a weird way.

As others have suggested, either turn round and offer him a cough sweet (call his bluff) or just move away.

PuzzledObserver · 30/11/2023 09:44

If it was the strong perfume thing, I think he would avoid OP.

Funderthighs · 30/11/2023 09:46

Move away. Problem solved.

ClawedButler · 30/11/2023 09:47

Tell him to fuh-cough.

CormorantStrikesBack · 30/11/2023 09:49

Are you smoking or vaping?

AdrianaLaCerva · 30/11/2023 09:49

As long as you’re sure it’s deliberate I’d call him out on it loudly every single time - “Ew - cover your mouth when coughing rather than spreading your germs to everyone here. I hope you’re teaching your kids better manners”

Tempnamechng · 30/11/2023 09:50

People who have lots of cats or are covered in cat hair trigger my asthma- especially this time of year, as do smokers and people who spray lots of (cheap) perfume. If you tick any of these boxes (swapping cat for any other animal) it is you who is making him cough and not just him fake coughing at you. Please don't say eww at someone coughing as a pp suggested, us asthmatics get fed up at explaining that we aren't contagious when people leap back in horror at our lifelong condition. I was brought up better than not to cover my mouth when coughing though!
