Delivery driver beeps until I go to the gate

One delivery driver never comes to my door. He just beeps on the horn until I go out to him. The 1st time I met him I happened to be out in the garden and he said did I get the package he left over the wall, I said I didn't (there was no package and nothing missing either) but I told him I WFH and am usually here so he should catch me anytime.

Yesterday and today he has delivered stuff. Yesterday he didn't even get out of his van, he just handed it out the window. Today he did get out as he needed to get it from the back.

My drive is approx 5m long I would guess. The other drivers normally reverse up it and drop stuff at the door.

The thing is he is really cheerful and smiley when I go out saying 'how are you today, how's work'

DH thinks its awful and that I should tell him it's not on but because he is so nice I don't really want to. I meet most of the drivers before they get to the door but he doesn't even attempt to. I'm sure someday I won't see him and he will drive off without delivering and say I wasn't in. We get a lot of deliveries for DHs work mostly

Should I say something?

YABU - Don't say anything go to the van
YANBU - Do say something he should come to the door.

I wouldn't be happy with someone honking for me...

But also we are at the mercy of drivers who can easily "lose" our parcels or not make delivering them on the day a priority.

It's a hard balance.

I would probably lie and say that you are moving to Zoom calls for work and will be unable to come out anymore so could he please leave on the doorstep?

He's being nice so he can get away with being bone idle and not be challenged on it. I'd ask him to come up the drive with it, explain that the other drivers usually do this, and you can't keep coming outside because you're in work calls all day and can literally only nip to the door, not do a full trip outside.
