To think Beyonce has bleached her skin? :(

I'm baffled by the most recent picture of her in contrast to pictures of her from years ago. She had beautiful golden brown skin and now she looks Caucasian.

Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim did it so it's not unheard of, but why? What example is that setting to her black and brown fans?

Why on earth would she want/allow the pictures to be edited in a way that makes her so pale?

Why on earth do people put on so much fake tan to be brown?!

It’s just one look for a snowy shoot. Why does she have to perfect and set an example yet no one blinks at white women fake tanning themselves.

Brown skin can look extremely different depending on lighting and hair colour and makeup.

Im a mixed race woman and all of the women in my family have very different skin tones. We also dramatically change in the sun.

Without sun I’m a bit tanned. After two weeks in Trinidad I’m darker than my grandmother.

I would be very surprised if Beyonce bleached her skin.

L'Oréal famously "bleached" her photo back in 2008. Which is why I boycott them. She's not doing it. Is companies happy to associate themselves with a talented woman as long as she's not too black.

I guess Beyonce can do whatever she wants. She has her money, family, fame etc. She’s also a role model, influential and a star.

Regardless as a black woman it will always be disheartening to see celebrities or people (I have family members that bleach their skin) become lighter or feel that they have to use chemicals to change themselves - even if it is photoshop, it sends a weird message to the world - especially if you’ve decided to be the face of an anthem called “brown skin girl”. Nobody likes talking about it but being “too dark” is something that darker skinned people face as a prejudice. This narrative isn’t just amplified by this incident, but mainstream media overtime.

Good for Tina for sticking up for her daughter, but as a mum of a darker skin child I’ve had to have conversations about acceptance of skin, comments about dark skin from other school kids with my own daughter since she was in primary school because she is a darker shade (where do young people pick this up from I wonder). She has also had comments about her skin shade from family members which is toxic. And I am grateful for the celebs that act as role models for our girls because we still need to see ourselves represented.

Because black people who do this are trying to look white.
White people are trying to look tanned.

I hear about far more criticism about darker skin from their own relatives, in both the black and asian communities. It's awful.. they face racism plus negativity from people of their own race!

Beyonce has not bleached her skin. She is a lighter skinned black woman.

There are in fact a lot of black women in society who can get very tanned when in the sun and also get very light, particularly this time of year.

When she is darker it is usually in the summer months when she would be more exposed to the sun or even a bit of fake tan added on for glam. She has been lighter in the past even before she was as famous as she is now.

End of the day, celebrities all have the money, time and glam team to do a mix of looks whenever they want to.

No one comments when the Kardashians are darker brown some days and fair as snow the next.

What a load of crap. How do you know why everyone is doing it?

Weird that you think white merely want to be tanned and black people want to change their race.
