Is Quidco a con?

Bought an item in July. Tracked £3.33 but only received £1.33 this month (4 months later) as £2 taken for 'membership'. Have ordered lots of things this month but thinking by the time I receive it it'll have cost me £6!

I have a free membership with them and have had it for years. I don’t get loads back but it’s not a con.

no. not if you use it for everything you buy. You are already 'up' on your earnings. Sometimes it does take a long time to get the cashback - that's on the retailers though. I would say that generally topcashback has better percentages though for most sites.

cakesque · 27/11/2023 17:24

Absolutely not. I love it. You just have to use it every time and make sure it's tracked everything (raise a claim if it hasn't).

I've early £1000s from it over the years so definitely not a con. I only have the free version.

LumpyPumpkin · 27/11/2023 17:26

How would that be a con? It won't have 'cost' you anything. You're still getting cashback, even if it's less than you thought.

SoddingWeddings · 27/11/2023 17:26

No, I've used it for years It can take time to get the cashback and yes, you pay a membership fee.

My Lakeland one was declined because I used a code which wasn't approved by Quidco - I should know better!

However most of the tracked amount there is what I've got from this weekend and Xmas shopping.

It's not as good as it used to be (for me at least) and it can take a long time to get the cashback sometimes.

cakesque · 27/11/2023 17:27

You just have to be careful that it's something you would have bought anyway

Anawi · 27/11/2023 17:30

Definitely not a con, I've had over £1500 paid as cashback over the last few years. Once they've taken the annual fee, the rest you will receive. It is sometime very slow though and using extra codes will make them deny it.

Madcats · 27/11/2023 17:31

I don't bother with membership as I don't use it that much. I've had just over £450 over the years, but I've probably been a member for about a decade. DH too.

I tend to check if we are switching insurance/broadband/mobiles and for clothing.

Some cashback does take ages to arrive

socialdilemmawhattodo · 27/11/2023 17:37

I have the free membership, not premium (Basically lower rates of cashback). I have earned approx £1000 over perhaps a decade. But do watch the small print - I recommended quidco to my Mum and she used it for M&S car insurance. And buried in the small print was a disclaimer - she perhaps didnt get the M&S vouchers. The small print was about font size 4. So I am very careful now.

MrsRobert · 27/11/2023 18:37

I've the free membership but find Topcashback usually gives slightly more cashback. The only thing I find annoying about Quidco is that the percentage of cashback advertised for each retailer drops significantly as soon as you login.

Yeah, con isn't the right word. I was just annoyed that of my measly £3.33 that took 4 months to become payable, I lost £2 of it!
