To complain to bbc about CBeebies

usermumnurse · 23/11/2023 22:22

Their bedtime hour is so good between 6-7 for helping my toddler wind down - after in the night garden before the story - a CBeebies logo pops up and kids are shouting CBeebies which often stimulates my toddler who by this point is usually chilled out and ready to go to bed after the story & song. Just me or anyone else??

Read them a story yourself. Problem solved.

I am with you OP. And do you know why it is? The BBC are woke communists. They won't rest until every toddler in the country is having a tantrum.

Crying laughing at that.

Daisies12 · 24/11/2023 06:49

Surely a joke. Being in front of a blue light TV before bed is the worst thing to do. Read your kid a story yourself

jemenfous37 · 24/11/2023 06:55

@LolaSmiles This equally applies to adults...
😀

SandyWaves · 24/11/2023 06:58

This is why I prefer my own company

It’s not the best thing. However, as a toddler one of my sons couldn’t settle at bedtime. Unlike his older brother, he couldn’t physically sit for a book/cuddle/wind down time. Used to put CBeebies Stories on iplayer, the lights and pictures seem to be calmer than us reading a story. At one point that stopped working as well - the only thing he’d fall asleep to was (absolutely true) old Bob Ross episodes.

He has since been diagnosed with ASD and bedtime is still very difficult. I do miss those Bob Ross days oddly enough 🤣.

Shakeylegs · 24/11/2023 07:07

Literally the only thing that settles my child is seeing the CBeebies logo. Without that he’d be awake all night screaming. How dare you even suggest that the BBC remove it? That’s not what I pay my Licence Fee for.

I’ve a good mind to put my foot through the TV and send you the bill.

Luddite26 · 24/11/2023 07:11

You could write. I have to say it annoys me too. But I doubt they will listen I mean they didn't listen about Savile or any of the other paedophiles they let linger in their programmes or radio studios.

LolaSmiles · 24/11/2023 07:13

Not sure why everyone is being so harsh. Anyone is free to write to the BBC with suggestions. Maybe tv just before bed fits in best with their routine, for whatever reason. Stop being such nasty snobs, everyone.
It's not being snobby to say that if something isn't working getting a child calm for bed, the parent has the power to change it and do something else.

😂😂😂 it was Tom Hardy for me!

This is peak Mumsnet

You mean nadir, don't you?

110APiccadilly · 24/11/2023 07:28

I thought you meant about the entire existence of CBeebies, and every programme thereon. I was getting ready to support you to the hilt here. 🙃

Put your foot through the telly and tell your kids that you've ended the ninky nonk.

They'll soon stop mithering you after that.

You win.

FloralScented · 24/11/2023 07:40

I'll bite, as you know it is coming and it's just the shouting, mute the TV for that section, unmute for the story.

Greycottage · 24/11/2023 07:42

What a lot of stupid responses. Mumsnet really is the pits sometimes. Lots of people thinking they’re very witty and superior but just coming across like a bunch of dullards.

The point of cbeebies bedtime is to wind little ones down before bedtime routine. My toddler doesn’t watch it but obviously lots of parents do, or the BBC wouldn’t do it. If they’ve really put a noisy clip in right where the bedtime song used to be, that is really stupid. I don’t think “complain” is the right word, but certainly worth a tweet or quick email to the cbeebies team if you’d like to.

Tumbleweed101 · 24/11/2023 07:50

Haven’t seen it for about 13yrs but I used CBeebies bedtime hour every night. They’d had their bath, sat with milk and a biscuit to watch it. Soon as the end song finished it was straight out, teeth, into bed, story then sleep.

I still miss the fact they aren’t in bed at 7.30 some nights. Now they usually are up after me (23,17,14yr lol)

babyproblems · 24/11/2023 07:52

Don’t think TV helps kids wind down! X

ThePineapplePrincess · 24/11/2023 07:53

Children should not be watching tv before bed. Instead of spending your time complaining, spend it researching how to appropriately parent your child.

JL690 · 24/11/2023 07:56

Tell them you're not going to pay the licence fee until they sort it for you.

There are indeed some stupid responses on here. And maybe even one dullard.

JustEatTheOneInTheBallPit · 24/11/2023 07:59

Has anyone here ever successfully complained to any major supermarket for selling grapes (aka Death Fruits) that haven’t already been sliced in half??

PoppyOrange · 24/11/2023 08:03

Of course the whole of the BBC, indeed the whole world, should work to your toddler's routine.

Passepartoute · 24/11/2023 08:07

gotomomo · 24/11/2023 06:34

Do people really let their kids watch tv just before going to bed? Read the research (and it applies to adults too) screens emit blue light which disturbs sleep, it's advised to have 30 mins at least screen free before bed. I recommend a book (or 5 if it's a toddler). Tv off before tea here, worked far better

They need to include me as a research subject. I find some shows very soporific, I've been known to use them to help me drop off at night.

CheatingCheetos · 23/11/2023 22:25

Definitely, one hundred per cent, complain.

Copy in the Director-General and write it in green ink, so they know you’re serious.

Edited

😂

Hiddenvoice · 24/11/2023 08:14

My little one loves in the night garden so it’s become a little part of our pre bedtime routine. I don’t think the logos jumping about would cause any effect to my child since in the night garden has jumping around and singing too.

Id just turn the tv off if it’s becoming a bother to your child.
