To complain to bbc about CBeebies

Their bedtime hour is so good between 6-7 for helping my toddler wind down - after in the night garden before the story - a CBeebies logo pops up and kids are shouting CBeebies which often stimulates my toddler who by this point is usually chilled out and ready to go to bed after the story & song. Just me or anyone else??

Paahahahahahaha

I actually like ITNG, (I know, I know, I'm not the right age demographic but it has the same trippy somewhat psychadelic trip effect of that highlight of my 80s childhood TV viewing Button Moon) but I would gladly skip past the nauseating Iggle Piggle. I can't work out which one of them is worse - Iggle Piggle or Upsy Daisy?

Fallenangelofthenorth · 24/11/2023 01:17

Actually, my youngest is now 16, but I do remember this and being annoyed myself at the time when you're nodding off yourself and then BOOM CEEBEEBIES. I'm gonna go against the grain here and say yes, you should complain. Someone needs to, or I'll be annoyed all over again once I get my grandkids!

I'll back your campaign 😉

Snigger

SurvivorsInc · 24/11/2023 01:57

@selfselfiequeen it could be worse. I remember yonks ago an AIBU complaining about a CBeebies presenter with one arm, saying she would scare the kids. I am surprised anyone reading that thread had any eyeballs left they were being rolled so hard. At least this thread isn't offensive.

Oh yes! I remember that now too. Cerrie Burnell, she was a good presenter.

OP hasn’t been back but turning off the TV as soon as ITNG finished was one of my easier parenting jobs.

Ilotca · 24/11/2023 02:10

Put your foot through the telly and tell your kids that you've ended the ninky nonk.

They'll soon stop mithering you after that.

HomeIsCalling · 24/11/2023 02:11

As toddlers, my children still had a good couple of hours of unreasonable behaviour in them at 7pm so I didn’t notice. 😅

WandaWonder · 24/11/2023 02:11

Is there a petition to sign? Never mind the NHS this takes priority

Nooooooo!!! Not the Ninky-Nonk!

Depends where it goes

Depends where it goes

But quite where it goes
Nobody knows
And if they do
They are not telling you.

ExcellentFabulous · 24/11/2023 02:31

Log it with the police.

A & E now!!

Poor Iggle Piggle. ITNG is his dream. You can’t skip past him otherwise the whole programme wouldn’t exist.

CharingX976 · 24/11/2023 03:25

Not sure why everyone is being so harsh. Anyone is free to write to the BBC with suggestions. Maybe tv just before bed fits in best with their routine, for whatever reason. Stop being such nasty snobs, everyone.

CharingX976 · 24/11/2023 03:28

Do people really think writing to the BBC is such a big deal? They probably receive thousands of little suggestions like this from viewers every day. It's really not indicative that something is a huge problem.

Mikimoto · 24/11/2023 04:49

Have you been giving your TV too much sugar and UPF?

AnneValentine · 24/11/2023 06:20

Definitely. Complaints teams live for serious complaints like this.

StopLickingTheDog · 24/11/2023 06:23

I'd love to know what they were smoking when they came up with the idea of ITNG. What you actually need is Daydreams. Sends my kid to sleep in under a minute when he watches that in bed. Definitely some sort of witchcraft and I think maybe I should try it myself.

Lwrenagain · 24/11/2023 06:26

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 23/11/2023 23:12

The bedtime story isn't very relaxing at all, not when Dave Grohl is on - I'm left a little excitable myself. Takes me a while to calm down afterwards too.

Same! Even more so than the Tom Hardy one 😂

gotomomo · 24/11/2023 06:34

Do people really let their kids watch tv just before going to bed? Read the research (and it applies to adults too) screens emit blue light which disturbs sleep, it's advised to have 30 mins at least screen free before bed. I recommend a book (or 5 if it's a toddler). Tv off before tea here, worked far better

Lochness1975 · 24/11/2023 06:35

I’ll let you in on a secret OP- just turn the tv off on your magic remote. Poof! It disappears! All is well in the world again.

gotomomo · 24/11/2023 06:38

Mine used to go to be 8/8.30 anyway, how does anyone squeeze in a meal if you go to bed at 7 and find time to watch tv? Exh didn't get home from work until 6.30 ....so meal, bath, book...

Never replace books with tv, top tip from me, mine are adults now

pickledandpuzzled · 24/11/2023 06:39

I’m with OP! Bedtime hour was a big thing with my high needs kids. It would have been a disaster if loud, wind up snippets broke the mood.
We went on to story and snuggles in bed, but the tv assured them all the other 3 yr olds were going up to bed too, and that was gold.
Sometimes we still had drama, but it did help.

I used to sing them the bed time song again, among others. I can’t decide if I miss those days or am hugely relieved they are over!

Maccapacca was my favourite.

ChristmasBarginShop · 24/11/2023 06:40

... clearly a prime example why AI can't do parenting.
