Did your shoe size change in pregnancy?!

Can’t decide whether or not to splurge on a nice pair of boots. They are £100 which isn’t money I’d spend lightly as I usually like my footwear to last for years

I have however heard that some people’s shoe sizes change in later stages of pregnancy and never go back! Did this happen for you?! I might be less inclined to purchase if so.

YABU - no, my shoe size stayed the same
YANBU - I went up by at least half a size!

My feet got wider! Lovely hangover of two pregnancies. I can still fit into “normal” size shoes but they’re on the tighter side now but if I go a size up it’s like I’m wearing clown shoes and they’re far too long.

MisNb · 23/11/2023 21:28

Was a size 6 and went up to a 7, and stayed there. It took me a long time to accept that they weren’t going back…had to get rid of some lovely shoes 🙁

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 23/11/2023 21:32

How soon you planning on getting pregnant? Honestly it can change EVERYTHING so if you're going to operate on it might change if I get pregnant in future you'll never get anything 🤣.

I'm 39 weeks, feet 6.5/7 before pregnancy, shoes are tight now due to swelling but length still fine. Maybe will go back, may end up with wider feet but length seems fine. My boobs thank god haven't gone up much yet but god knows what breastfeeding will do. Back circumference has definitely increased though. Hips can also widen, general shape can change too and where your body defaults to carrying weight can shift.

megletthesecond · 23/11/2023 21:33

Went up half a shoe size. Never went back.

Clothes size and weight went back to pre-pregnancy weight

Cotswoldmama · 23/11/2023 21:39

No change for me

nutbrownhare15 · 23/11/2023 21:43

Went from a 7 to an 8. Still an 8.

VeronicaSawyer89 · 23/11/2023 21:44

Yes, I went from a size 5 to a size 6 when I was pregnant with dd1 20 years ago. Never went back down.

Vexxa · 23/11/2023 21:50

I have had three pregnancies and gone up half a shoe size after each one.

selfselfiequeen · 23/11/2023 21:51

I went from size uk 5/6 and I wear an uk 7/8 now. Looks like the swelling hasn't gone down yet. I have wide feet also..

And that's over 4 years and 3 pregnancies !

Teawaster · 23/11/2023 21:54

I had twins and went up from a 6 to a 7 or sometimes 7.5. For years I thought it was the sizes that had changed but recently I found my wedding shoes and they wouldn't go near me!

Simd1 · 23/11/2023 21:55

Apart from some temporary swelling towards the end of my first pregnancy my feet are exactly the same size, two children later. Thank goodness for that, I started at a 9...

menopausalmare · 23/11/2023 21:56

I'm still a 7 but a wide fitting. My feet definitely spread.

HeartshapedFox · 23/11/2023 21:57

I went from a 6 to a 7 and stayed there. Couldn’t believe it! Definitely one of those things that noone tells you about pregnancy…

Inyourwildestdreams · 23/11/2023 21:57

6 to 6.5 with 1 pregnancy here. Also much wider feet. I was pregnant during the first lockdown with a lot of time spent at home barefoot which didn’t help!

MuchTooTired · 23/11/2023 21:58

I went from a 6 to a 9 whilst pregnant with my DTs who are 5 now - my feet are now a 6.5-7, very occasionally a 6 so I never buy shoes with confidence because more than likely I’ll be returning them.

SparkyBlue · 23/11/2023 21:59

Their shape changed and I've never been able to wear high heels comfortably after my third pregnancy

goodgriefsean · 23/11/2023 22:00

Yes 5 to a 6 and didn't go back down.

PurpleBugz · 23/11/2023 22:02

Yup swollen feet mean I go up a shoe size when pregnant. I go back down when I loose the baby weight. It can be hard to loose the baby weight and it's an unreasonable expectation from society that we slim down to our pre pregnancy body. It can be done obviously many people do it. I've had 3 children and it gets harder every time

LegoInMyShoe · 23/11/2023 22:15

I went up and feet went wide. Didn't go back.

Iheartmysmart · 23/11/2023 22:15

Went up half a size and my feet got wider as well. I had to get rid of loads of lovely shoes ☹️

BalloonSalesperson · 23/11/2023 22:21

Went from a 5 to a 6 and stayed there.

Mamato29192 · 23/11/2023 22:22

Nope stayed the same

Thursa · 23/11/2023 22:24

I went from a 4 to a 5.

SabrinaThwaite · 23/11/2023 22:27

It’s a thing - women’s feet go through five phases through their lives, and if you have children there’s a good chance your feet will change and not go back.

Woman’s Hour had a great interview on this - explains a lot.
