To spend Christmas alone?

both dh and I come from large families and the conversations about where to spend Christmas have begun. My family have so many issues but keeep up the facade that everyone is fine so lots of fake smiles. Dh has less family issues but Xmas is usually quite dull as they usually watch tv all day. I know Dh willmwant to be with his family, but I just don’t have the energy to be fake at either families and would rather spend the day reading a book and going for a walk.

AIBU?

Could your dh go to his family and you stay home if that's really what you want to do?
I must admit though I'm the least sociable person and even I like to spend Christmas with extended family even though we too have our fair share of issues, such as mum and sister now being totally non contact.

What did you do in the end, OP?!

Supamum3 · 13/01/2024 21:31

I went to DH families and had a horrendous day. This year, am definitely staying home!
