All parents at DC's school have got a letter saying Covid and flu are circulating and children with symptoms need to stay home to protect vulnerable teachers and students.

In the same letter, it says attendance rates 'could be improved' and asks parents not to keep ill children home as 'colds are a normal part of the winter months' and instead give them Calpol in the morning.

Wish schools would make their minds up.

'Absolutely. I'll do that the second you text me all your personal medical data'.

We had no choice they were throwing about FII accusations if we didn’t prove it saying we were lying or exaggerating to keep dc off and limit their social emotional and educational opportunities so was easier to give them the proof

Our schools only issue on their ofsted report was attendance.

My brother had his son 6 off school a few months ago as he woke up saying he didn’t want to go to school as he felt poorly. Within a couple of hours he was literally bouncing off the sofa and running about. My brother took him in 😂

That’s appalling. I would have been livid and told them that as well as make a complaint to the head.

I take all of this attendance bollocks from the school with a pinch of salt. If they’re not well they are not going to school. End of story.

I was fuming, but it was a few days before the summer holidays and knew they wouldn't give a shit by Friday so I left it. I've since had a good talk with her new head of year who seems slightly more realistic, it's the office staff, when reporting absence, who demand this crap.

Ironically that last seizure has triggered a referral back to peads > epilepsy clinic > cardiology which means at least 3 more appointments in school time and more absence.. then I'll need proof of absence to provide proof of seizures 🫠 roll on the end of year 11 🙏
