Does this seem like it could be a fraudulent transaction?

I used my card a couple of days ago to fill up petrol at Tesco. I didn’t go in to the shop, I paid at the pump. The money has come out of pending and has been taken from my account today but below it is also another transaction to the Tesco shop for a separate amount. I didn’t go in and I haven’t been into Tesco for at least a month and it’s showing as being taken just after my petrol came out. Does this sound fraudulent? I’ve not lost my card. I can’t think how it’s happened

One of the transactions is Tesco petrol and the other is for Tesco Store

Is the petrol amount correct? Is the store amount a round figure?

Pay at pumps sometimes do a holding amount in case there's not enough available cash in the account. But is should normally drop off the statement whilst pending.

If you are 100% sure the store transaction is wrong then you should query it with your bank.

Yes the amount I paid for the petrol is right. But both payments are separate and have come out, one says petrol and one says card payment in store. The one that says it’s for the Tesco Store is for slightly less than the amount I paid for the petrol

Does the transaction give you any details, could it be a payment from a couple of days before?

If you dont recognise it, I would query it. It is usually quite easy on online banking. It should be investigated and Tesco will have to prove that the transaction is valid.

It just says it’s for the store with a card payment but I haven’t been in for a month, maybe more so a bit confused where it’s come from! And it’s come out exactly the same time for when I put petrol in but I definitely didn’t go in to the shop and buy anything

Is one the pending amount they take for petrol when you pay at the pump? The other for the actual amount?

Check with the card provider.

Did you have to authorise the card before buying the fuel? Maybe it’s that, and the transaction that is “pending” will disappear in the next day or two.

Something similar happened to me but with a Boots payment: 1 for £32.46 and the other for £31.99 within a few minutes and it turned out that in a massive co- incidence my husband had used his joint account card in a Boots in London but the statement just showed ‘Boots’

could this have happened?
