I had booked an Airbnb, hosted by a man (let's call him Mark) but I could also see on his page the property was co-hosted by a company (let's call them Homestays). Mark had a photo of his face and Homestays had a logo as their profile pics.
The reservation was cancelled. When I spoke to AIRBNB, they said they had cancelled it, not the host, as there was an issue. Something to do with security/legal for the host , I couldn't fully understand, but it basically seemed like AIRBNB were saying the hosts were dodgy.
So I just looked in my inbox and for my previous bookings for properties that are co-hosted, the icons next to the messages are the 2 profile pics: photo for the host and logo for the company.
But for my messages to Mark, I can see his photo and next to it is an icon that says '+22' - eg, in this message thread is Mark + 22 other people?
And when I go into the thread, some of the messages show me who has read them: there are 4 different people that have read different messages, none of them I know who they are! When I click on their name it brings up an Airbnb profile page and lists them as a 'guest, no other info.
AIBU to think this is really weird! Has anyone else seen this before?
