the dustmen have just been. and there are carrier bags blowing down the road and assorted bits of rubbish.
considering we all have wheeley bins in our road. you can't really blame the dustmen as all they do it tip the bin in the cart.
it must surely be the way people put there rubbish in the wheeley bins.

YANBU

It's recycling day in Henley-on-Thames which is usually a pretty pristine little town. I've just picked Ds2 up from Pre-school there and it's a BOMB SITE - newspapers, plastic stuff and general recycleable rubbish is blowing ALL over the town.

Yes people should definately pack it better. My recycling stuff is usually packed in so tight that a hurricane wouldn't blow it out! I bet the collection men won't pick it up if it's not in it's boxes.

YANBU

Every monday i have the same thing I walk dd1 to pre-school but spend all my time getting her to dodge various pieces of rubbish which has blown out of various bins and it is always the same houses. I mean how hard is it to shut a bin

FAQ · 12/03/2008 14:31

depends on if your bin is full, you need to get your last bag of kitchen rubbish in (because you're got bits of fish etc in it and it stinks) and you can't quite get the lid down properly........and then people walk down your street after you've put the bin out and put extra rubbish in it........

TheFallenMadonna · 12/03/2008 14:34

Have your bins blown over? Our streets are covered with blown-over bins today. ANd of course the rubbish that has fallen out as a consequence.

Bouncingturtle · 12/03/2008 14:52

I've had to run out and grab my bin 3 times as it keeps been blown into the road despite me trying to brace it against our fence, and the binmen still haven't been!! I've since put the bin back to its more sheltered location, and will just have to listen out for them to put it out!

Bouncingturtle · 12/03/2008 14:58

Oh FFS!! My recycle bin (full of cans and bottles and a bag od paper for recycling) has completely vanished!!! I can't see it anywhere! now all that rubbish is scattered all around the street - except I can't see any of it! Goodness knows where it has all gone!!!!

Sorry 2shoes, but if the wind where you are is anything like what I have here (it's so strong it keeps threatening to knock me over when I walk out the door!) then I think you are being unreasonable, though I do sympathise!

my bin has often blown over in the night and the cats/birds have pulled the top bag to pieces dont think that has anything to do with the way i packed itthe wind last night blew over nearly every bin on the street

2shoes · 12/03/2008 16:26

I would except that it was the wind. but only one bin has blown over and no rubbish wpilt. also thia happend on anormal non windy day.

Don't think it's a wind-up - it's a fairly common problem! Bins often blow over and out in the road where I live. Luckily I'm frequently at home so can get my bin in quite quickly, but some people who are obviously out at work all day can't do that.

I do find that the dustbin men don't care about odd bits of rubbish that get strewn around when they empty the bins. I always have (other people's) rubbish in my garden on bin days to pick up.

belgo · 13/03/2008 06:21

We have the same problem here 2shoes. Yesterday was the paper and plastic bottle collections, and now the streets are a mess due to the high winds and people not securing the rubbish properly.
