Anyone else had a terrible year?

I am sure you don't want my list of exactly how shit 2023 has been but roll on 2024!

I read about the ritual of opening the window to let the year out just before midnight on 31/12 then opening the door at midnight to let the New Year in. Any other rituals I should know about?

Am with you @ZipsHips it’s relentless

Cornettoninja · 20/11/2023 20:06

@ZipsHips i hear you. I don’t even want ‘good’, just plain sailing. My goal is boring now, boring would be great.

Bigcoatweather · 20/11/2023 20:10

I’m with you OP. I’m done with 2023. One thing after another with health scares throughout the family, peri-menopause, financial squeeze and so on.
This year feels like it was 5 years long.

Your 2023 sounds like my 2022, DS was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, and my not so much DH of 24 years waltzed out of our lives.

DS is doing well and is cancer free, DH is lonely and miserable. And I found my feet and my happiness.

I truly wish the same for you, and that your lovely son continues to respond to treatment and goes on to live a long, happy and healthy life ❤️

@Goodornot Thank you

It's been pretty shit, yes. Found out one of my best friends had an aggressive cancer and lost her within 4 months. 6yo's anxiety caused a period of school refusal, and I went sick with stress from work (partly due to dd's issues, partly because my workplace was so toxic). Multiple battles to get dd the support she needs. Quit my job of eight years in August due to said toxicity, haven't had even a sniff of an interview as yet. I'm not really over what happened to me with work (which has caused an argument between me and dh tonight) as it destroyed my confidence, which remains rock bottom.

There have been good bits as well though. Some of the posts here have made me realise that. I cannot imagine losing a child, and I am grateful that my kids are healthy and things are heading in the right direction for my dd, who is in a much better place now.

Yup. Lost my Mum. Lost my Gran. About to lose an Uncle. 17 year old nephew has cancer. It's been sh**. Hopefully 2024 brings more cheer for us all. x

Sorry to everyone suffering, sick, bereaved or just fed up. Reading some of these really puts it into perspective.💝💝Better times in 2024
