What a daft question really-but life has been swallowed up over the years with childrena and work they are now all teens and doing their own thing at weekends. I now have every weekend off. I'm in a bit of a rut of spending the weekend cooking, cleaning or food shopping. DH is working today and I need to get a life really!

Any suggestions for a lonely late 30s person, not shopping, drinking or cinema? I'm in NW England if that's important-not got friends or family outside of us-quite shy-not at all sporty?

Walk somewhere beautiful? Are you near the coast or mountains? Art gallery or museum?

Lex345 · 18/11/2023 10:14

We do have country side on our doorstep, so walking is a good shout-weather is a bit miserable today though-I do go mushroom hunting quite a bit (i just like them we don't eat them!) I'm not too far from the city so museum/gallery is a good shout thank you!

You could go and watch your local grassroots football/rugby team.
Visit a stately home/national trust property.
Go to an art gallery if any by you.
Go for a walk if weather permits.
These are all things I have done so apologies if not to your taste.

Great ideas thank you-stately homes is one I hadn't even thought of, and I used to love doing that before the children were born-Chatsworth and Shugborough were my favourites, but there must be loads locally

Theatre?

Zippedydoodahday · 18/11/2023 13:18

Yoga classes? Spa day? Go and sit in a lovely cafe and read a book whilst enjoying tea and cake? Go horseriding? Go to the theatre? All things I fantasise about doing if I didn't have a toddler in tow.

Paint a piece of pottery at a studio? There are several in the north west.

Day trip to the beach?
Take yourself to a cafe for a cake and a podcast?
Dance class - don't need to be sporty and good if shy because less talking more dancing!
