hitting head & possible concussion

Sorry I know people hate it when people post here for medical advice but I'm alone with a toddler so going to hospital is not a quick and easy thing and I'm panicking a bit.

I hit my head at work on Thursday. Felt nauseous afterwards and immediately really tired for about half an hour. I had what felt like a dent in my head rather than a bump but after that i felt okay. Felt absolutely fine yesterday too.

This morning I have woken up and where I hit my head is very sore, feels like a bad bruise does to touch. I feel a bit dazed and groggy and like I have a headband on round my head, round the back and front and a bit sick.

I've googled (I know that's not great!) And it sounds like a mild concussion.

So how necessary is seeing someone for this today?

Don't listen to the people on here, go to A and E. Most likely you are OK but you should get checked. People die because of the NHS every day, don't give up on them before you even try

You best get checked out.

If it is concussion, not much to do apart from rest and more rest. But yeah, better to get it checked.

Mischance · 18/11/2023 09:45

Another vote for getting it checked out. I used to work for a head injury service.

Munchyseeds2 · 18/11/2023 09:51

It does sound like a mild concussion - I had similar symptoms. I spoke to a GP who was happy for me to stay home as I had not been sick or passed out and knew exactly what had happened
If you call 111 they will advise A&E to get checked out
I felt sick and like I was drunk for about a week and dizzy episodes on and off for 9 months

I had a concussion after I fell off a horse, I did go to A and E and had it checked. They can’t do much but it’s a good idea to get it checked so they can confirm there is nothing else going on. Definitely get yourself checked over OP.

SnowLikeRain · 18/11/2023 09:56

I'm quite lax but even I would get that checked. I don't like that you felt fine yesterday and today it's worse. Please go and get checked out.

Singleandproud · 18/11/2023 09:59

Go to A&E / minor injuries now, if you leave it a couple of hours it'll be full of sports injuries from youth football etc

fourelementary · 18/11/2023 10:05

Go to a and e. And don’t be alone with your kids.

KrisAkabusi · 18/11/2023 10:06

Concussion can lead to compression. It needs to be medically checked.

OneTC · 18/11/2023 10:12

It sounds like a mild concussion, ring non emergency medical line for advice
