To eat this cream

We've got a tin of squirty cream in the fridge which has been in there for ages. I don't use it much but it's handy for cooking.
Today DH bought some mince pies and I warmed one up, only to discover that he'd forgotten to get cream.

Anyway, I thought I might as well use the squirty cream. It said Best Before Oct 11th. I tried some and it tasted fine so I used it.

DH says he won't risk it but I'm sure it's okay so I had some.

AIBU?

@TheShellBeach as my long deceased Grandmother would say "don't you dare throw that, it's "best before" it will still be ok!!!"

I was brought up going to the market for fruit and veg, meat and cheese. Dates on everything drives me mad. Luckily my DH feels the same! A girl at work bins everything. Stuff doesn't go off on the stroke of midnight!! Often I'll eat whatever she's wanting to bin to prove it's still fine 😂

You have another mince pie with extra cream and enjoy 😋😉

Squirty cream is UHT. You'll be fine.

Which October?
2022 (or before!): I'd probably bin it.
2023: bring it on.

Never had any problems with out of date food.

Not quite the same, but we keep full fat Greek yoghurts in the fridge for months and they are delicious still. 😋
Squirty cream also has stabilisers and preservatives doesn't it? That should help.

I wouldn't eat it - it's well over a month past it's date!

It's a best before date, not a use by date.

Exactly!

Anyway, I've survived the night, so a I'll have another mince pie with squirty cream this evening, while I'm watching Strictly.
