Trustpilot

I'm I unreasonable to think they are meant to be an organisation consumers can consult to see if a firm is reliable/honest/trustworthy. I am being asked to remove a review that is accurate and critical of a firm. I have submitted documentation to show my review is accurate. The firm is requesting its removal! Anybody else had negative experiences with Trustpilot?

Who is asking you to remove your review, the company who you reviewed or trustpilot?
I've written critical reviews for companies on TP and I've never been asked by TP to remove them, as they have the power to remove them themselves.
If it's the company asking, then ignore it.
I once had a battle with a company who sent me shoddy goods and refused to accept them back unless I paid postage, which would have cost a lot of money.
I wrote a review on TP and within a couple of hours of it being posted, not only did the company send me a full refund, but told me to keep the shoddy goods too.

They are pretty solid when dealing with these issues. I once had review temporarily removed as the company claimed I was not their customer. I sent Trustpilot proof of my purchase and they reinstated the review immediately, no further questions asked.

Taylorscat · 17/11/2023 17:03

I don’t trust it on the basis eonnext have good reviews and they are the most unbelievably hopeless shit company I have ever come across .

StoneofDestiny · 17/11/2023 23:22

Krankin The company asked me to remove the review originally and I refused until the put their work right that was still under guarantee. They have not done the work. Trustpilot has now asked me to remove it as the company complained to them that I wasn't a real client! I forwarded the evidence of the work and the guarantee. Trustpilot says as the work was 12 months old they had a policy to remove it! I explained the guarantee wasn't 12 months old. I also pointed out that future clients of this shifty company should see a balance picture by reading genuine reviews.
Frankly I'm staggered Trustpilot cannot be trusted at all.

interesting - I've submitted all the evidence and they came back with the 'time limit' issue - I cannot see that as justified. I'm wondering if a consumer programme would look into Trustpilots' alleged 'independence'.

It will be on your phrasing. There're right to challenge anything unfair

It's a shitshow.

I posted an accurate review and was told it was not allowed. I sent them the evidence I was a customer, and had placed the order I was talking about. I also gave them the link to the upheld complaint I lodged with the advertising standards agency!

They deleted my review.

StoneofDestiny · 18/11/2023 19:41

No - not my phraseology. That's never been raised as an issue and my review is highly accurate and substantiated by evidence. Something is far from right with Trustpilot.

OP posts:
StoneofDestiny · 18/11/2023 19:42

granny that sound accurate with similarities to my issue. My evidence is flawless and if they remove my review it leaves other consumers exposed to only positive comments - hardly fair or accurate, and certainly not trustworthy.

Yes...I left a true review after my car was mot by a local garage...they left it on double yellow lines on a very busy road, unlocked!!! No idea why my car wasn't ticketed and tbh broken into. Garage said they never had my car in so it wasnt a true review....I never returned to garage but yes review was removed despite the fact I supplied my receipt for the mot....

StoneofDestiny · 18/11/2023 19:46

I am now recognising this is more that a one off then!

Nope, trustpilot is an absolute oxymoron.

I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole anymore, and 100% take it’s “reviews” with a pinch of salt

StoneofDestiny · 18/11/2023 19:50

Who are consumers meant to trust?

coldcallerbaiter · 18/11/2023 19:55

The review can be removed if you are deemed to be a not a genuine customer, eg. a troll or rival firm. The request will be made by the company you complained about and they may see who you are via TP, so it cannot be done anonymously. You need to give evidence if your order to TP if requested and your review will remain standing. So a screenshot of the order email or something similar.

StoneofDestiny · 18/11/2023 20:06

coldcallerbaiter - yes, that is what the firm has claimed - that I'm not a genuine customer. I then supplied copies of their work and my bill on their headed notepaper and heaps of emails between the company and me trying to resolve the issue. There is no justification for removing a review that is genuine and has been proven to be so. I'm really amazed Trustpilot is talking about removing it!

Yes I've recently had a very negative experience with TP.

I purchased an expensive item from a company that had many, many positive TP reviews. The company turned out to be a bunch of con artists.

Confused by how many glowing reviews the company I had, I went back and started digging a bit deeper. On page three and beyond there were a lot of warning reviews, people advising the company were scammers etc.

When I looked at the 'positive reviews', nearly all of them were made by people with one syllable names (think 'Dave, Joe, Mike') and it was their first and only review, leading me to speculate the company was faking its own reviews. I reported this unusual coincidence to TP but they said they wouldn't be investigating.

Have lost all trust in them now. I'm going to use google reviews instead.

Domino20 · 18/11/2023 22:29

I've had a positive review of Evri removed as suspected fraudulent. The local office went above and beyond to get a parcel to me so I really wanted to show recognition. After removing I emailed them to ask WTF? It took about 3 months for Trustpilot to reply asking for proof that my review was genuine. I supplied receipt and tracking details and have never heard back. It's not just negative reviews that they fuck about with.

Are they just assuming that there can't possibly be a positive review of Evri! lol!

Domino20 · 19/11/2023 01:27

This might definitely be the case!

Evri is great a lot of the time, cheap and reliable

When it goes wrong, you cannot contact evri and this cannot be legal!! You literally have to contact the ceo office, there is no online form or chat etc so of course everyone goes to reviews to complain!
