To not want to be a parent helper at Pre-school, more than once a week?

I'm on the committee, help out with fundraising, always pay fees on time.
But my DD only goes 3 times a week and i'm using my "free" time to do shopping, housework and doing volunteering work for Age Concern.
I was also hoping to find a little cleaning job as well.
What is the point of sending DD to playschool if i'm there with her and paying for the priveledge? I've got lots of things to get on with.
Do any of you do more than this? or do you just say "No!", which i could.

I think twice per half term should be the limit. FWIW I am on the committee, fundraise and pay fees on time as well.

I managed to make increasingly pathetic excuses every time my name appeared on the rota (youngest now 5 so those days are thankfully past). I might as well have just said "No" - they all knew that's what I actually meant.

Yes, I'm with you - I've never fully understood the paying for playgroup and then having to help thing either.

Hassled · 11/03/2008 21:47

I've just realised how crap that sounds - in my defence can I add that I am (and was then) PTA stalwart, Parent Governor and parent helper at school as well?
So the playgroup helping thing was just one demand too many - especially as I was paying for it.

Yeah, that's my problem, just can't say no.
I was even on the committee last year and i did not have a child in the playschool.
It's just that if i had left they would have had to close.
I'm doing the grants and i tell you, when my dd2 leaves in July 2009, i'm handing over pronto in October 2009, even if no-one will take over, cos i've had enough.
We have 15 sets of parents and out of a committee of 5, only 3 have children at the playschool.
Everyone else is just too busy .
