To be mildly annoyed people abuse BB parking spaces?

I went out today for the first time in a while. I have a BB and was lucky to be able to get a space since I kept seeing parents parking there and getting out prams. No badges in the windows

I was mildly annoyed tbh but I was also a saddened that people feel they can use a blue badge bay without one!

Please keep trying. It’s extraordinarily difficult to get a blue badge with a person who can technically walk but isn’t safe to do so. The more people who push through that system the easier it will be for that very misunderstood group. You can appeal and if that fails take it to the ombudsman. If after all of that you get no joy do write to your MP asking for his support.

Thanks but he became housebound and died before we managed to sort it. I was just amazed (incensed) at how difficult and time consuming it was, even though he was so clearly in need.

@DisquietintheRanks I’m so sorry that happened to you all. Every stage of securing support for the disabled is hideous. Sharing what happened to you is such a big thing because so many believe it’s all easy handouts and only bludgers who don’t get what they need. What an awful experience.

This is a real bug bearer of mine!! Happens a lot with Parent and baby parking spaces too. I have a 6 month old and I have had at least 10 arguments at our local Tesco alone with people who have no baby and park in those spaces. Same as BB spaces they have additional space relative to a standard space specifically for wheelchairs etc etc.

with the baby parking I’ve gotten into the habit of thanking people for being so lazy that they put my child at risk (from having to be put in their pram at the back of the car in a standard spot rather than being able to use the designated baby aisles at the side). People are usually either narky or embarrassed.

This is a thread about misuse of blue badge bays.

For you to equate this with your inconvenience at having to park a bit further away so you can get your baby out is grossly wrong.

I’ve never seen this before, but I have seen people use P&C spaces and display a blue badge despite there being disabled spaces free.
Were lots of people doing it? Maybe word got round that no one polices the spaces or something?

P&C spaces are a courtesy provided by the store. They are there to encourage people with young children to shop.

Disabled people with a blue badge can park there if it’s more convenient, as in fact, can any other shopper.

(FWIW, I don’t park in P&C spaces, because I’m not disabled, I don’t have young children and I rarely drive to the shops in any case.)
