Rwanda vs Palestine

Have I understood correctly that the UK government is spending more on not sending refugees to Rwanda than on helping displaced people in Palestine?

Surely you could just start a thread about Rwanda if you want to talk about that. However obviously you don't this is just another thread letting everyone know you think the government should do more for Gaza etc

I might start a thread with the title:

LEGOLAND VS PALESTINE

because the two situations have about the same amount in common as OPs title

Palestine is nothing to do with us,

It has actually......

Balfour declaration by the British government in 1917 in support of a “national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine and the ensuing conflicts with Arab communities there.

Because obviously Jewish people had no right to live somewhere they’d been in for a couple of thousand years 🙄

War and conflict will lead to many more people wanting to flee and seek asylum.
Solve immigration by stopping war, conflict, poverty elsewhere....

You are too logical I am afraid. Definitely wouldn't make a good politician

Critical thinking is sadly failing.

Well the Rwanda plan is to solve a pressing issue that is on our doorstep. Palestine is nothing to do with us, it's bloody miles away and contrary to popular belief it's not "our fault" there's a big fight going on there. We were forced to take control after WWI due to the collapse of the Ottoman empire. The US, Jews and Arabs didn't agree with the way we were running the region (the Jews and Arabs both killing our people) so we passed control to the UN with the requirement to find a solution that satisfied all sides. They didn't, and it's a mess now.

🤦🏻‍♀️

You didn't read what I posted, a previous poster said Palestine had nothing to do with Britain, I was pointing out that it actually has a great deal to do with us...

I am pretty sure the only problem those in the government are interested in solving is how they remain in power for as long as possible. Unfortunately rather a lot of the UK population have cottoned on to how little they have done for the country in the last 13 years and so would like the opportunity to vote them out.

good luck with the perspective of the general population voting in a different party,

What happened to the Picts?

I'm fairly certain they were subsumed in to Gaelic Scotland - perhaps they might rediscover themselves and attack the highlands to reclaim their territory? Not sure what that has to do with Hamas terrorists attacking Jews though.
