Topic for traffic.

This morning as I came down the stairs my DD asked me who was the person who just walked past her into the downstairs loo....
She said they wore all black and she only saw the side of their face.
Needless to say I got goose bumps.

I just wanted to know if anyone has had their children tell you something that's freaked you out a little...

I 100% did not believe ghosts until my three year old saw one.

Have a friend who was always telling me that her daughter talked to a elderly male ghost in their house. We went to my friend's house and as we were driving up we saw a workman on friend's roof fixing some tiles. Chatted away with my son about the man on the roof and went into the house and had a lovely time. As we were preparing to leave, my son said he needed the toilet so I told him to go upstairs. He said 'I don't want to, I'm scared of the man.' I said, don't worry, he's outside on the roof. He replied 'not that man, the old man standing at the top of the stairs.....' Stared at my friend who just smiled and nodded.

My blood ran cold.

username100001 no, I’m too scared to lol!

Soubriquet · 14/11/2023 21:54

Apparently when I was a little girl, I told my mum I couldn’t go upstairs cos grandad was there and he told me I wasn’t allowed. My grandad had died. Freaked my mum out a bit

Soubriquet · 14/11/2023 21:55

He was also standing at the top of the stairs..weird

Dd said that when her dcs 1 and 2 were both 8-9 months and had just learned to wave, they both smiled and waved happily at someone who wasn’t there. Both times it was just outside their bathroom, when they were wrapped up in towels after a bath, and she was holding them. There was no mirror or anything else with a reflection they could have been waving at.

One of the former owners had died in the house about 6 years previously. She’d had children (long grown up) and the house had always felt as if it had been a happy family home, so dd wasn’t too freaked out by it.

My daughter went through a phase of pointing to a corner in her bedroom and telling us 'Daddys daddy" was there (her grandad). Not scary at all, more comforting to think he is watching the granddaughter he didn't get to meet.

I'll try and haunt a luxury spa. Not a Yorkshire two up, two down.

PaganOfTheGoodTimes · 14/11/2023 22:05

DD at about 4 once asked me grossly when "they are going to stop talking, I want to sleep now, those people in the corner of my room". DS once wailed, I want to go home now! I love you, mummy but i want to go back to my home now" We were home. He was not quite 2 I think.

Loved reading these!

Something my dad told me (I have no recollection of)

I came downstairs for breakfast we were at my grandfathers house, I must have been about 3-4 at the time. &"My dad said 'where have you been, I asked you to come downstairs'. Apparently I said I was 'talking to the nice lady on the landing'.
He asked me to describe her, I described exactly what his mother (who passed away years before) looked like who I had also never met. Apparently she loved children, I put her name in my DD's middle names.

I'll never forget that one.

We moved house when my younger sister was 3. For a while she used to talk in very matter of fact tones about ‘the lady’ who sat on the end of her bed and smiled at her.
We heard at around that time, that the young woman, one of the former owners, had died in childbirth not long after we moved in.

Not exactly seeing ghosts, and I’ve probably posted about this before, but when the whole family were on holiday and visiting a site of Greek or Roman ruins (where they’d never been before) a friend’s little Gds, around 4 and so pre school, said, the moment they arrived, ‘I used to live here!’ - and very happily pointed out the remains of his house, and his friend’s house - he even gave a slightly garbled but appropriate name for him - and the pool (bath) where they used to swim.

Needless to say, the rest of the family were seriously spooked!
When they finally left, he said, ‘Thank you for bringing me home.’
He’s late teens now, and for a long time has had no recollection of it.

My mum saw a ghost as a child in a country house where her mum was a cleaner. She asked her mum who the girl was that had just come down the staircase. Her mum told her later that the owners of the house had an only daughter who was killed in a riding accident. It gave them great comfort.

AHeadForHeights · 15/11/2023 09:06

Yes, one of my children asked who the man near the front door was. I just said I didn't know and that maybe he was just a visitor. Around the same time, the shower kept making a noise as though it was heating the water but not actually on, and would do so in the middle of the night, which could be quite unsettling.

We also have a stairgate in front of one of dc1's bedroom door (even though he's 12😂😂) which we use as a towel rail. In the middle of the night after, both dh and I woke up to the sound of it moving and bashing on the wall. I went to investigate, like they do in the horror films, but nothing was there.

Finally, about a week later, I was woken from a dream about that scene in Insidious Chapter Two where he's walking through the Other, lost in the fog, and a goblin comes up saying, "He'sgotyourbabyhe'sgotyourbabyhe'sgotyourbaby," and then he's in his baby daughter's room where an evil ghost thing is trying to steal her body. I was woken by the sound of my toddler crying. 😳😨

Nothing else happened after that but I was close to calling the vicar!

That's just given me the willies, and not in a good way! 😳

No, but when I was a kid I did see my cat in a building she shouldn’t have been in. Found out later she died around the same time. I think she came to say goodbye to me.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/11/2023 19:05

Yes. DD asked who the children upstairs were at a friends house. No children lived there. She also ducked down violently on the stairs at home aged about 3... and said don't worry mum, it was just angel going past.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/11/2023 19:05

DD also said there was another mummy upstairs. Apparently it was me but not me. She said she'd chat with her but she wasn't as nice as me.
