Who gets the voucher?
Adult A buys adult B a t shirt for a birthday.. T shirt is too big. Adult C offers to swap it as they have a day off that week. Adult A and B don't. T shirt is now half price and refund is given in a voucher..
Who gets the voucher?.
Adult A who paid.
Adult B who had the birthday.
Adult C who gave up their time to return it. Albeit they offered.
I have already decided but am I fair in my thinking?

It goes to A who then gives it to B

Voucher is at the bottom of the gift bag with new better fitting t shirt...

It stays in the gift bag for the recipient.

I'm surprised this is even a question... surely it's B, the t-shirt was for them so the voucher should be given to them to get it in a different size or get something else

This

PostItInABook · 14/11/2023 13:09

B gets it. It’s part of the gift imo.

TheCurtainQueen · 14/11/2023 13:10

It should go to A and then A decides what to do with it.

B was meant to be gifted a t-shirt and that is unchanged.

Draculina · 14/11/2023 13:55

Adult B, 100%. The T-shirt was a gift for him, Adult C offered to make a swap FOR adult B...the voucher goes back to the owner of the T-shirt, ergo Adult B.

Santaiswashinghissleigh · 14/11/2023 14:05

Dilemma needed discussing before tonight as I have a feeling Adult A will want the voucher...

Do A & B know about the voucher? And who has the bag with the voucher in it now? If I was A, I might be inclined to keep the voucher as B still has the t shirt that was their present, albeit a better fitting version. If I was B, I think I’d feel a bit uncomfortable taking the voucher without at least offering it to A. C should just stay out of it.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/11/2023 19:40

A paid what they thought was appropriate, B has a T shirt that fits... if I was A or B I'd insist C kept the voucher as a thank you for being kind enough to do the legwork with no expectation of reward.

pyjamalife · 14/11/2023 19:41

Are you C? Just sneaky tell B and leave it in the bag for them. Don't even mention to A.

A or B should have the voucher but I would leave it with the gift, it was already spent by A.

If you're C and sneak it out, nobody would know if you destroyed the receipt 😂 but I couldn't do that.

NalafromtheLionKing · 14/11/2023 19:42

If B doesn’t know about the voucher, give it to A. If B does, it would be nice for A to give it to them as extra part of birthday gift.

WhamBamThankU · 14/11/2023 19:43

Definitely B

Floralnomad · 14/11/2023 19:44

B gets it all . Not sure why C would even be considered .

Fairospop22 · 14/11/2023 19:48

In your situation definitely B

if A had returned the T-shirt they could have gave B the better fitting one and kept the voucher themselves and every one else would have been none the wiser. However of I was A I still would have wanted to spend the same amount on B so would have used the voucher to get them an additional gift if possible

xyz111 · 14/11/2023 19:52

B! It was their present. Not even a question.

Winwit · 14/11/2023 19:59

A had a budget for the gift which remains unchanged. So if the tshirt is cheaper now that’s great, it means A can buy an additional gift within their budget. Either A gives B the voucher, or spends it (or the equivalent cash) on B.

Whentheboatcomein · 14/11/2023 20:00

B

Mumaway · 14/11/2023 20:02

B.

PestilencialCrisis · 14/11/2023 20:04

Why Person B?! Person B's present is the t-shirt, which they now have. If person A had returned the t-shirt and got it exchanged, then they wouldn't give a t-shirt AND a voucher, they would just give the t-shirt. So the refund belongs to A.

TheresaCrowd · 14/11/2023 20:05

Because if B’s present was originally £50 it should still be £50. Just instead of a £50 tshirt B now has a £30 tshirt and £20 voucher. A would be very greedy to give a £50 gift then take £20 back!

But the total of the cost of the gift is the same?

dhworry · 15/11/2023 03:55

I'd say B. Does A even need to know?

A - paid for a t shirt of X value
B- received a t shirt of y value and a voucher to top it up to X value
C - deserves a thank you

So everyone is financially the same as if the t shirt had been the same value.

If I was A I'd insist that B kept the voucher too.

Friendfoe1 · 15/11/2023 03:56

Adult B, obviously.

Lizzieregina · 15/11/2023 04:13
