999 or 101

On the bus to work and a kid just got hit by a car. Kid got up and continued walking to school, the bus driver who saw asked if she was ok and she said yes.

Driver who hit her didn't stop
Kid continued to school but she looked really shocked.

It was so shocking and if she gets to school and is suddenly in a lot of pain will it be helpful for the police to know? Is so 999 or 101? Happened about 10 mins ago

I'd 101 who will refer you to 999 if needs be. Do you know which school?

snoreb · 14/11/2023 08:36

I saw a badge and I can give a vague description of the uniform, I'm just so shocked the driver didn't even notice.

I’d say 999, failing to stop in an accident is a crime, so the police should be after the driver who hit the child. The child should also be supported and at least get checked over and parents made aware.

Poor kid. Any description of the car? Hopefully it will have been caught on cctv or car/bus camera.

snoreb · 14/11/2023 08:39

I do have a good description of the car and the driver and I noted the number of the bus. He's definitely got it on dash cam. I'm gonna 999 it. She went into a shop after she got up so maybe she's already told someone. Poor kid.

  1. The moment has passed now but the driver needs to be spoken to by police and the welfare of the child checked.
Needmorelego · 14/11/2023 08:41

If you can find out the school (quick Google of local schools and you will see the uniforms) please phone them and tell them. She may need medical help but doesn't really realise it.
But also phone 101 then 999 if needs be.

thismummydrinksgin · 14/11/2023 08:42

I'd guess this child has phoned their parents too.

2dogsandabudgie · 14/11/2023 08:43

101 as 999 are for crimes that are actually taking place. Agree with pp that the crime has now passed so no point police rushing to the scene.

Parkermumma07 · 14/11/2023 08:43

If it’s ongoing now 999 if not 101

fourelementary · 14/11/2023 08:44

101 as it doesn’t need an emergency response.

Actually, the child may not tell anyone, I really wouldn't count on that. They may want no fuss or even be scared they’ll get into trouble.

Well I called 999 because 101 had a massive wait. They had had a few reports and my description has really helped so I did the right thing. I hope the girl is okay!
