Biscuit Tea

Yorkshire Tea now make a 'biscuit' flavoured tea. I was feeling adventurous the other day so decided to broaden my flavour knowledge by purchasing a box.
I'm a lover of biscuits in tea, particularly the biscuit known as the Malted Milk. I believe it not only tastes exceptional when sufficiently moistened, but I also believe it's one of the great tea enhancers. The wonderful malty taste in a Malted Milked brew makes my tongue feel snuggley and relaxed: Like it's sitting in front on a fire on a cold winter's evening wearing slippers and a onesie. I waited for an appropriately mellow time during the day, 4 o'clockish if I remember correctly, and made myself a cup. I was disappointed. It had a buttery but artificial tang to it which was most unpleasant. Irstead of the onesie and slippers my tongue was longing for, it felt more like an Auntie's knock off Crocs and a nylon tracksuit.
I'm all for a bit of experimentation. It's how science, humanity and biscuits advance. You don't invent the Bourbon by playing it safe, so while I approve of the risk taken by Yorkshire Tea in searching for innovative new bags, I just don't like it.
AIBU in giving Biscuit Tea 3 out of 9?

Yabu it's been around for years and is my special treat when I have spare money, bloody love the stuff. I did see they had a toast and jam flavour but I don't think I fancy that

WithIcePlease · 12/11/2023 19:29

It's been around for some time op - maybe 2-3 years? Aldi do similar and a Jaffa cake one (which I think is awful but DD loves)
Yorkshire tea also do a jam on toast one so you could do a comparison!

It's nice as a change imo but I wouldn't drink it first thing in the morning. For me, it's more of a 4 o'clock thing on a cold day.

I love it! It’s been around a couple of years at least and it’s the only tea I drink now!

AHeadForHeights · 12/11/2023 19:32

I like popcorn tea, gingerbread tea, choc & mint tea, chocolate tea if it has sugar in and a while range of others that I can't remember right now. I do not like biscuit tea though I do love dipping my chocolate hobnobs into my normal brew. Yabu though because it's not new.

I bought some and I was fluctuating between loving it and thinking "bleugh".

Reallynotoverreacting · 12/11/2023 19:35

Bird and blend do a chocolate Digestive loose leaf tea and by god it's amazing. They have a whole range of biscuity teas, jam on toast, butter brew etc
We have a subscription, as a treat to ourselves for cutting way down on booze

I've been confined to caffeine free tea in recent years due to high blood pressure so am only now easing myself back as my fitness increases. I didn't realise the tea landscape (teascape?) had changed as much as it has.

Bird and Blend do the nicest biscuity tea IMO. Chocolate Digestives tea is just gorgeous!

DH made me a cup of tea the other day, I rarely drink it but I've just had an operation was feeling chilly and tea was the right choice. He made me biscuit tea, proud of his selection of 'special tea' it was a gesture of kindness but it was bitterly disappointing. I like a strong tea (Yorkshire gold) with plenty of milk no sugar. The biscuit tea smells very nice but it was insipid.

Lol at teapigs tea; they do a range of flavours and types of delicious tea and you can buy taster packs so you don't waste your money on a big box that you might not like.

Tessisme · 12/11/2023 19:39

I like it, but not enough to drink it every day. I'm not a biscuit dunker due to very bad timing issues on my part, so tea that tastes as if a biscuit has been dunked, without the resulting sloppy lumps, is pretty alright in my book!

JaneIves · 12/11/2023 19:59

The toast and jam tea is amazing! It's my tea of choice.
The Aldi ones were gross.

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 12/11/2023 20:13

I love the stuff. It's the only tea I drink now. I buy it in bulk off Amazon Blush

Jifmicroliquid · 12/11/2023 20:43

The toast and jam one is nicer. Kind of a hint of sweetness.

Might have to try the choc digestives ones suggested above!

Mamato29192 · 12/11/2023 20:48

I love it

namechangedforthisnone · 12/11/2023 20:51

The jam on toast one is so nice

TolkiensFallow · 12/11/2023 20:51

The biscuit one is amazing!

The toast and jam one is rank.

MisogMog · 12/11/2023 20:56

The Bedtime one is the best! And the biscuit a second. Jam is awful

Tinkletinkletree · 12/11/2023 20:56

You might like to try the Yorkshire Bedtime tea. It's quite malty and has vanilla and nutmeg flavour (as well as being decaf). I'm not a fan of flavoured tea but this one's actually quite nice.
