AIBU to ban this phrase?
DH who is a perfectly function human being just said this to me when I said I needed to contact Equifax. He also mentioned it was Friday evening when I needed to call the council emergency line. He has the weird belief that everywhere shits down at the weekend. Even though he answers emails at the weekend, even though for many years I worked weekends at a bank. He also really struggles to make calls at work, he needs a follow up dr appointment but can’t make time during the week to make the call, so he can’t imagine everyone has time to make all the less urgent calls!

and if they are closed when I phone, that’s the message I get, it’s not like they add my phone to a blocked list or charge £50 every time.
AIBU and he’s actually just reminding me that they might not be open or fully open? Is it just idle chit chat. Or AINBU so I can blanket ban any mention of the day of a week unless specifically requested.

Of course YANBU, but it sounds as if he would prefer you did it?
If he hasn't 'found time' to call the GP for an appointment during the week then he could be avoidant?

He can book an appointment on the surgery app, or hadn't he had time to download it yet?

I emailed Equifax, using the info I got yesterday, which technically I suppose means they might be shut. But I was only ever going to email them so would have made hee haw difference if I’d done it tomorrow.

if I was being generous I’d say he compartmentalises very well and we were doing laundry so he was only thinking about laundry. But I’m not feeling generous so he’s an arse who needs to think further ahead than the next 2 hours.

I can understand what your husband is talking about. A lot of places are closed for business at weekends. I always think about the time and what day it is when ringing companies. Monday mornings are usually very busy as are Friday afternoons.

@Doggymummar your right. He hasn’t had time to download the app, because you need to do some registration procedure. That’s actually hit a nerve a bit.

He probably does do a lot more phoning places than I do, so there’s probably some experience talking. But that’s too reasonable for how I’m feeling right now.

I don’t understand your problem. Is he preventing you from making a call or is he just reminding you that they may be shut?

This seems like a huge overreaction to him giving the perfectly reasonable observation that customer service lines might be closed on a Sunday. I know many places do 24/7 service now but personally I’d never bother on a weekend because I’d assume they were shut. His not getting his arse in gear to make a GP appointment or download an app is his problem, not yours!
