…to think DH should know how old I am?!

Just that!

Together 15 years… and tonight he had to do the maths to work out my age.

I feel a little bit annoyed tbh! Surely it’s a really basic thing to know about your wife?!?!

I get you might get a but 'fuzzy' about age, but surely your year of birth is imprinted in one's memory

But you still have to do the calculation. I could tell you instantaneously I got.
married in 2011 but if you asked me how long I've been married it would take a few seconds to subtract 2011 from the current year. Same as my age.

Crooklodge · 10/11/2023 21:06

My dh could tell you how old I am instantly, ask him how old he is he'll either between two and settle in the older year, every fecking time.

I've been 37 for the past two years nearly. Last year in my head I was 37, turns out I wasn't until this year.

37 did that to me too. Now I'm actually 38 but I can't get my head round it.
DH's age I was fine with until he got past 40 and now I keep getting it wrong. I actually typed out he's 43 now but realised that's wrong because he's 6 years older than me, he's 44.
I blame covid. I never got it wrong until covid. It screwed with my sense of time and dates. We lost some years.

Sorry OP. YABU.

bakewellbride · 10/11/2023 21:08

Dh once called our son the name of his mothers dog instead of the correct name!

I had an argument with DD the other day about how old I was. She was insisting I was 36. I was adamant I was 34. She was correct.

Ah but we all lost two years during covid, didn't we?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 10/11/2023 21:09

I've just spent the best part of a year telling people I'm a year old than I actually am. It was only when I did the maths on my birthday that I realised. I also have a mental block about the date of one of my children's birthday and can only be sure when I calculate it as a week before another family event.

YoongiMarryMe · 10/11/2023 21:09

I completely missed out on being 33. Thought I was 34 so then had two years of being 34. Woe.

I know the exact year my DH was born but I still have to scrunch my face up and think hard about how old he is. Grin

BooBooBaloo · 10/11/2023 21:09

Another one that has to do the maths for myself (mid 40s) so can't get too upset if DH also has to do it for me!

PerspiringElizabeth · 10/11/2023 21:10

I literally have to work out my OWN age a lot. Been telling myself I’m basically 35 for a few months as my 34th birthday is next week. I always have to remind myself I follow the years - eg 33 for all but 6 weeks of 2023.

Also was just talking to DH about this tonight. There are 2.5 years between us, but I’m 33 and he’ll be 37 next year. So indeed, sometimes ages are mind boggling.

menopausalmare · 10/11/2023 21:11

I've just turned 50 and myself and my partner of 13 years were lying in bed trying to figure out if he's 46 or 47. 😬

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 10/11/2023 21:11

I often have to remind my DH of his own birthday never mind his age!

Borborygmus · 10/11/2023 21:14

I don't think it's a big deal. I always have to do the maths to work out my own age. After all it's not a number you need to know very often!

AnneLovesGilbert · 10/11/2023 21:14

I couldn’t tell you right now how old one of my brothers is and I’ve known him since before he was born and spoke to him earlier today.

I couldn’t remember DH’s date of birth when we went to register our intent to marry. Numbers aren’t my strong point.

These things happen.

Ladyj84 · 10/11/2023 21:15

My hubby has been35 for 3 years lol and ask me I know dob but takes a while to remember age tho lol..even worse with the 4 kids

Born before or after Elvis died?

That's the way we do it

OldTinHat · 10/11/2023 21:15

I've no idea how old I am half the time, let alone anyone else. With finger counting this afternoon, I'm apparently 52. I think!

Lucy377 · 10/11/2023 21:17

After aged 50 you don't care, and then discover your husband doesn't know or care either. I think my DH is about 54 or 55 but I'm genuinely not sure.

Crushed23 · 10/11/2023 21:17

I love whoever said “it keeps changing” 🥲

Minfilia · 10/11/2023 21:18

Alright, this has really made me chuckle Grin

and has also reminded me that I regularly forget my own age so maybe I can’t blame him too much

Thanks to this thread I’ve just asked Siri to tell me how old I am. According to Siri, I’m a year younger than I thought. Thanks OP - not often you gain 12 months!

Bumblefuzz · 10/11/2023 21:23

I was fine until I got to 41, I can never remember how old I am. I work out my husband by counting down from me!

PeloMom · 10/11/2023 21:30

I have to calculate everyone’s age in my head as I can’t remember who is how old, including mine. The only person whose age I know is LO but might be due to them being in the single digits still.

PeloMom · 10/11/2023 21:31

@Bumblefuzz right? I don’t know what happened past 40- it all god fuzzy 🤣

Redglitter · 10/11/2023 21:32

I was asked my age today at a hospital appointment. I had to stop & think about it

shivawn · 10/11/2023 21:33

There's only 2 weeks between my husband and I so no chance of him ever forgetting my age.
