To ask you to help me clean

I am asking for tips to help me clean my house better!
Lime scale in the toilet- this seems to build up really quickly and looks grim: is there any tips on how to get rid of it and keep it at bay?!
Best duster/dusting techniques
How to get water marks off of black granite- I've tried vinegar spray but it's not really working...
Any other tips really!

I'm in Scotland so can't help with limescale but for dusting, I moved to a Flash Dust Magnet, absolute game changer. You can extend it, change the angle and it dusts everywhere without spreading the dust everywhere. You need to buy new heads for it but it's worth it.

Helenahandkart · 10/11/2023 13:59

Pour half a cup of white vinegar into the toilet when you go to bed. Give it a scrub in the morning with a green scratchy sponge. Keeps limescale at bay.

DustyLee123 · 10/11/2023 14:01

I also use the Flash dusters, not cheap, but worth it.

Fab! I actually have the flash duster so am on the right track! Will try the vinegar down the loo. Thank you

Declutter as much as you can! Really helps

MacarenaMacarena · 10/11/2023 23:59

With my black granite work tops I always have to wash then dry with a tea towel. Always look smudgy otherwise!

Crucible · 11/11/2023 00:01

Black Harpic for the loo combined with little magnet things that sit in the tank seems to have worked for my scaley loo at long last. I live in a very very hard water area.

bizzey · 11/11/2023 00:02

@Crucible magnet ? For hard water area ...please tell me more !

bizzey · 11/11/2023 00:03

Ohhh what tank ...loft tank or cistern?

frenchfries111 · 11/11/2023 00:04

Isn’t it full fat coke in the toilet? Chuck everything you can. I cleaned out my
kitchen cupboards this week and I was ruthless. It’s the only way. They are semi empty and much more manageable/clean.

Fionaville · 11/11/2023 00:08

One of our toilet gets limescale really easily. I've used all sorts. I've just started using a black spray bottle of mold remover, from B&M and its the best cleaning product I've ever used! It cuts through everything! It does smell strongly of bleach though, so I wouldn't use it too liberally, but for tough stains it's unmatched! You don't even have to scrub.

bizzey · 11/11/2023 00:20

I am the worst " housekeeper" ever...
But I am using cleaning products from Purddy &Figg at the moment...and it is a game changer !

I was very sceptical of the reviews ..but it had a special offer so I thought I would give it a go ..

I did a big blitz ...and now just wipe things over with their stuff and love it .

It doesn't smell like cleaning products at all.

It cleans ...but freshens as well .

I sort of always want to spray and wipe everything now !

I am never going to get to Mrs Hinch's level ...but I am better than what I was before 🤣🤣

bizzey · 11/11/2023 00:24

Ohh and microfibre cloth's made life so much easier as well !

But get good ones though

The cheap ones are not worth the money !

SurelySmartie · 11/11/2023 00:28

+1 black harpic. Put in toilet leave for an hour or 2 then scrub the bowl with brush. Then do once a week to keep it at bay it’s easier after you’ve got the first lot off.

@Crucible magnet ? For hard water area ...please tell me more !

I need to know too @Crucible spill the beans...

bizzey · 11/11/2023 00:33

Something I do with toilets is ...
Get a bucket...scoop out the water of toilet so bowl is empty ..then put the stuff in that you want to get rid of the lime scale ,so it is not diluted with the water already in the bowl of the toilet.

Stuff comes away much easier.

bizzey · 11/11/2023 00:38

Must have ideas company have the best microfiber cloths ever ...and I have gone though lots !

( don't bother with their toilet cleaner that you put in the cistern thing though !
It flushes blue ...then goes an off greeny yellow an hour later !
Looks awful !)

Crucible · 11/11/2023 08:54

@bizzey here you go, they come in twos and I put both in one tank. This set is going in my downstairs loo.

To ask you to help me clean
Crucible · 11/11/2023 08:55

And for @Oblahdeeoblahdoe

Whatonearth07957 · 11/11/2023 17:30

Purfy & figg smells so lush you don't mind cleaning. For hard water vinegar is the way to go just keep at it or the harpic whitener bleach.
