about getting someone to repair my electric shock giving cooker?

last friday, I got a shock! straight off my cooker, simply by touching the timer !

So I rang and booked someone to come and look at it.
I remembered to mention that I was at work midday and when i would return. But assumed , wrongly that they would arrive after 9 am.
I did the school run( was being quick as poss) and found a note, I had missed him by just 5 mins!!

So have re-booked the appointment, and only had the choice of nearest appointment being a day i work.
And was told that if I miss the chap this time I would be charged £25.

The fact that I had a electric shock and had a numb arm and hand for a while doesnt seem to bother them.

I am going to have to cancel work, find someone to do the school run, and change other obligations for this.

Why is trying to get anything repaired in this country so difficult?

I am rather 'twitchy' around my cooker, and to cap it all off , local road works have cut of my streets water for the day.

AHHHHHHHHHH !!

Can you ask the guys to come between time A and B (like 9:15 to 12:15)so you don't miss them.

We had a similar problem with a cooker a few years back - I was petrified of getting a shock but it wasn't as strong a shock as to make your arm numb!
