I have a mortgage with my ex. We have 2 children. Split 3 years ago. Quite frankly have had enough living with him and trying to keep the house going when I see no future here. He's a slob and rarely tidies up. Does the most basic housework which is usually piling pots up on the drainer and hoovering one room. It's my family home and he's been on the mortgage 4 years less than me. He was a trooper and paid for everything in the 5 years I was home pregnant and with kids. I'm not knocking him for that. Nothing I say has ever made him want to move out. He's kept his attitude of I want to live here and as a single man I can't afford to rent. So it's come to the point of me saying fine I'll go move into a rented place and you buy me out when you can. I've set up universal credits along side my Job. The snag is I need a guarantor to rent anywhere. I said to my ex seeming how it's your children please can you guarantor me..I won't ever ask you for the rent I'll always pay but in a crisis I'd ask my dad. I've never asked for a penny off my dad yet so it's unlikely to happen. He said he doesn't want to as if I don't pay he could go to prison.

Aibu that he wants me and the children to find somewhere as he wants to stay here so I expect him to tick that little box for us so we can actually apply for somewhere

He’s a twat. Call the police and tell him he is abusive, hopefully they’ll tell HIM to leave. Then you can sell the house.

Do not leave without getting legal advice, ffs.

Are you married?
Who is actually named on the deeds?
If you are not married but Co own the house, are you joint tenants or tenants in common?

These things matter.
