Dangerous Parking

Hi, just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Theres a fish shop where I live that is on the corner of a VERY busy junction. It's also a blind junction you can't see what's coming until you're right at thr end of the road, people turning into the junction would not see you until they started to turn the corner.

EVERY SINGLE DAY there is numerous issues with people parking all along the entrance of the junction to use the fish shop. 3 times this month when getting past a parked car I've nearly collided with a car coming into the junction, speaking to neighbours they have experienced the same thing.
I've looked online at where to report and it's saying police, but I'm not 100% sure it is a police matter.

The fish shop food is lovely, I walk round and use it myself. I now have fear of driving that way every morning when doing the school run.

Aibu to report them to some official body?
Thank you in advance for any advice.

I’d speak to the council.
We had a similar situation in our town where people parked half on the pavement to nip in, as if that actually stopped the danger.
The council fitted bollards so people could no longer mount the pavement. It has mostly stopped people parking near there as it is a dangerous place to stop. Maybe the parking warden loitering around for a couple of weeks would deter people at the fish shop?

I get what you're saying because similar happens here, but when you are doing the morning school run it won't be open so if there's parking issues, you can't blame the fish shop.

I set off to do the school run at 11.45am My youngest is in the school nursery 🙂 They open from 11.30am - 10pm every day.
Also they have deliveries daily so when i go out earlier in a morning you will find a large van of some kind there.. It's a very very busy fish shop.

I think I'm going to give them a call in the morning. It seriously needs resolving. It gives me such bad anxiety when I see a car parked outside there when I need to pass

Probably best to speak to the council (I would be inclined to speak to the fish shop first just to give them heads up and see if they are willing to do anything about it first). We had the issue with our neighbour parking his van flash against the driveway leading from the garages behind our property so nobody could see out onto the road when emerging. One phonecall to the council sorted it (probably helped that he was a council handyman parking their company van).

Contact the council.

II would take it to your local councillors, (rather than going through your main council switchboard) send them video/dash cam footage and if possible get your neighbours to do the same.
All our local councillors email addresses are on our councils’s website.
Good luck.

That's some strange opening hours for a fish shop.

I assume it's fish-and-chips rather than four-salmon-fillets-and-a-pound-of-prawns.

😂, I don't often like attention brought to my stupid moments, but that made me laugh! It's a chippy here.

This can be a police matter. I had this issue at the end of my road last year when builders were parking at the junction preventing me seeing what was coming along the road I was joining. Initially contacted the police on Twitter and they didn't seem interested but then sent them a photo and within 24 hours a patrol had had a word with them.
