just wondering (and really hoping) someone can help here. Obviously I’m going to see the GP for it but just wondering in the meantime what this could be/what to expect

I have been feeling a bit shakey and lightheaded for the last few days but nothing awful. But today it became much worse gradually throughout the day- by mid afternoon I had a throbbing headache, felt like I was in a bubble and was extremely light headed and felt like my arms and legs were quivery. My brain felt like cotton wool and it was just awful. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest- it wasn’t sore at all but I was just very aware of it. I’ve never felt so bad in all my life. I came home from work and didn’t think I could make the stairs to bed so I went straight to sleep on the couch and slept for 4 hours straight. When I woke up I felt maybe 50% better but still a bit shakey and still a bad headache.

I was thinking it may be anaemia. But I’ve never been anaemic before so I don’t know if this is it. I had an operation 2 weeks ago and lost a decent amount of blood in it, but they didn’t mention anything about taking iron tablets after it so maybe I didn’t lose as much as I think but it appeared to be a lot. It was 25 dissolvable stitches to close the incision just to give an idea of the size of the cut. They didn’t do any blood tests before or after it so I don’t know how much it affected things. But the week before this, I had a much heavier than normal period. So I’m wondering if this combined with the operation has affected me and maybe its the side affects of losing more blood than normal. But I felt fine for the first week after the op so maybe if it was anaemia it would have been worse then? Not sure why it would suddenly get worse over the last few days. My next period isn’t due until roughly next week

for context I’m early 20s, my BMI is 20 so I’m not under or overweight, I wasn’t low on salt or sugar and I wasn’t dehydrated either. I can’t think of what else this could be other than anaemia but maybe I’m completely wrong.

i would be really grateful for any advice here x

get bloods done I had similar symptoms and it was due to low vitamin d !

I can so relate to this I've got a condition called hyperparathyroidism which causes very low vit d, I've also been diagnosed with aneima I'm on vit d and iron tablets now but some days I still feel tired weak and lethargic.

Definitely speak to your GP op about getting your bloods done

Agree with others get a blood test. Also, have you got a temperature? Wondering if wound has become infected.

AussieManque · 08/11/2023 02:59

Could be Covid. People are getting all sorts of random symptoms, and COVID is known to affect the heart. Do a test , swab your throat and nose, and be aware that many people aren't getting positive tests till day 4 of symptoms.

Sounds like high blood pressure to me, I had it when pregnant and experienced everything you've listed. Definitely see gp

MidnightOnceMore · 08/11/2023 03:09

This could be so many things. It is statistically likely to be something that is not a threat to your physical health (such as stress, a virus, a vitamin deficiency/anaemia, a blood pressure thing as discussed above) but only a doctor can rule out the uncommon but serious things. So if you don't start to feel better, or can't identify the cause, you may need to speak to the GP.

I had exactly these symptoms when I had covid - didn’t test positive until a few days afterward.

El13 · 09/11/2023 12:51

It sounds like it could be anxiety / panic attacks? depersonalisation is a common symptom.
I have the same I had every blood test and everything was normal. X
