Toddler currently has CP which have started scabbing over. One of the first spots he got was right on the bottom of his back and keeps rubbing on his pants/nappy.

This one has been scabbed now for nearly 5 days but keeps bleeding and opening again due to the location. It seems quite red and angry.

Would you say it looks infected? Sorry first time dealing with chickenpox!

No - I think this is surrounding inflammation ( doctor)

FloofCloud · 07/11/2023 18:49

Does it feel warm to touch compared to skin temp?

Pinkpinkplonk · 07/11/2023 18:49

If the scab keeps being irritated and having to reform it’s probably just inflammation, just keep an eye on it ( also doc)

Changingplace · 07/11/2023 18:50

No but can you put a plaster over it to stop it rubbing off while it heals?

Pinkpinkplonk · 07/11/2023 18:52

Any skin which is red will feel hot, it doesn’t automatically mean it’s infected, can just be inflamed

Thank you! Have tried plaster but he just pulls it off 🙄 I've been letting him run around nude as much as possible so that there's nothing rubbing it for a while. Just an awkward place!

To be honest I can't tell if it's warm as he's pretty warm all over at the min (slightly raised temp on and off).

Thanks anyway will keep an eye on it!

I don't think it does.
