Should antibiotics be working by now?

I've been on antibiotics for around 24 hours now for bronchitis. I have chest pain and wheezing. The Dr said to give the antibiotics 24 hours to kick in. If it gets worse or doesn't improve to go for an x-ray to rule out pneumonia. My chest pain is a bit worse today and the wheezing is now on inhale and exhale (was only on exhale yesterday). I can't get a GP appointment, tried this morning and none left, walk in can't do x-ray forms. I have 2.5 hours before I need to pick my son up from school. Not really sure where to go from here as it isn't an emergency and I don't feel unwell other than extremely fatigued. Fever is gone. Would you just give the antibiotics another 24 hours to kick in? Feels off that my chest is worse today but I have no Dr to speak to.

The doctor told you go to back after 24 hours and it’s 24 hours. If you can’t get an appt, phone NHS 111 for advice.
Please don’t take medical advice from strangers. Follow what your doctor said.
111 is there for you, give them a ring and good luck!

Mine took 3 weeks and 3 different types of antibiotics to shift and a month off work. 24 hours is pretty hopeful! I hope you feel better soon, it's miserable.

If the fever was there but has gone with the antibiotics, you are improving.
