Any cosmetic nurses here? Pic attached - Do I need Botox or tear trough filler?

Sorry shamelessly posting for traffic and NC for this!

So I have always said I would never mess with my face but 3 kids and general life has caught up with me and I find myself in my late 30s CONSTANTLY looking puffy and tired around the eyes!

I have tried all the creams, drink lots of water, do have the occasional bottle of wine of a weekend but seems to always be the same.

Does anyone know what may help? I know I need to book a consultation and I will do but need pep talk - convincing that it’s not a huge mistake and it can actually work! Pic attached and as you can see I have dark circles, bags and a weird puffiness around the edges and corners of my eyelids.

Any advice on what could help? I don’t want to look different or even younger just not so shattered looking all the time!

Anyone with any experience or expertise??

You have lovely looking eyes that look totally normal for a mum of 3.

Once you "see" something, you keep staring, so that's why YOU notice it so much, but from someone who doesn't know you, I don't see puffy eyes at all.

Tear trough filler is widely considered a bad option as many people experience lumps due to migration and the fact it doesn’t dissolve completely as once thought.

No qualifications just into beauty.

yellowlane · 06/11/2023 09:11

I've seen great results with tear trough filler. Be very careful who you go up though.

Greybluewhite · 06/11/2023 09:16

Please don’t get Botox.

Ive had some life changing side effects from it, one time was all it took. It’s really not worth it, they gloss over them as if they will never happen but it happened to me.

Chere · 06/11/2023 09:16

Many practitioners have stopped performing under eye fillers.

Op, you really do have beautiful eyes. And the “hollowing” is very minimal imo.

why I stopped filling tear troughs...

Tear trough filler.

Bags under eyes are caused when the tissue structures and muscles supporting your eyelids weaken. The skin may start to sag, and fat that's usually around the eye can move into the area below your eyes. Also, the space below your eyes can gather fluid, making the area look puffy or swollen. Several factors cause or worsen this effect, including:
Aging
Ultraviolet Damaging Sun Rays
Fluid retention, especially upon waking or after a salty meal
Lack of sleep
Allergies
Smoking
Genetics — under-eye bags can run in families
Skin Disorders

Your eyes aren’t puffy, they’re just no longer the eyes of a very young woman. Your face changes shape as you age and part of that is changes to the skin around the eye. (You think that’s bad, wait until your jawline begins to sag!) At the moment your eyes are genuinely very attractive. But you don’t look age 21, and you never will again.

If you want to change dark circles honestly the best option is make up, just a few dabs of a cover up concealer.

This is my main concern that I will end up with unnatural lumps appearing! Thank you for your insight

Please may I ask what kind of expert you went to and the price you paid? Looking online varies so much I’m not sure what is the acceptable price

Sorry to hear this, I’ve always said I’d accept how I look after having relatives who have had Botox and become obsessed with looking younger - I really don’t want to be like that I just want to feel refreshed

Very interesting and pretty much confirms my fears! Thank you for your kind comments, I think I need to stop obsessing!

Can I ask are you using a lash serum like Revitalash or Grandelash etc? A well-known (in the industry) side effect of the effective lash serums is fat loss around the eye socket, which gives the effect you've got. Mine improved within three months of stopping the lash serums.

friskybivalves · 06/11/2023 09:49

Your eyes are absolute natural stunners. The colour, the shape, the way your brows frame them...I don't often respond to these posts as I have never had cosmetic treatments (though I slap on tret every night) but you know, each to their own - I'm not remotely judgy. But please, please don't mess with your gorgeous eyes.

Ohnoooooooo · 06/11/2023 09:49

I think you look lovely but I always find giving up dairy for a few days improves any puffiness.

helpmytiredeyes · 06/11/2023 09:55

I don’t use them no, I have a very minimal beauty routine as become so fed up of spending £££s on ‘miracle creams’ 😂

OP posts:
helpmytiredeyes · 06/11/2023 09:56

Ooh this is interesting as I do eat a lot of dairy - never considered this but will try a few days off and see if it improves. Thank you!

Ah thank you - that is extremely lovely of you to comment! I genuinely just see tired heavy eyes though 🙈 I have googled tear trough filler obsessively and close to booking a consultation but I am petrified of it going wrong or looking silly! There is so much horribleness going on in the world so I feel extremely selfish and self absorbed to be worrying about my bloody eyes!!

What is Tret? Don’t think I’ve heard of that xx

Please can you quote who you're replying to.
The thread doesn't make sense otherwise.
Thanks!

God I hear you on that! I thought I'd ask about the lash serums as I have natural tear trough indents and the serums made them so much worse and I must have spent hundreds on creams that did nothing.

I use retinol eye cream and that seems to have been the most effective for improving my under eye area but nothing really completely fixes it. I went for a consultation for tear trough filler a couple of years ago and the doctor didn't seem very keen on doing it at all and tried to redirect me to a potential brow lift (which I didn't go for)!

Pleatherandlace · 06/11/2023 10:08

Your blue eyes and brown hair looks so lovely. ( sorry, don’t know anything about fillers though)

ToadOnTheHill · 06/11/2023 10:09

Perhaps book a make up consultation?

I use concealer under my eyes and highlighter on my cheeks.

I only started using highlighter after I realised that that must be why I kept thinking a certain school mum had such a youthful glow despite having 4 young kids! She is otherwise makeup free and whilst she looks her age she just has a wow factor.

I recommend Victoria Beckham.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 06/11/2023 10:12

If you do want to go down the make up route, I really recommend the Urban Decay All-Nighter Waterproof concealer. It really has staying power and amazing coverage. However, if your indents are deep, the dark lines can be shadows that can't be concealed away from all angles.

helpmytiredeyes · 06/11/2023 10:19

@SisterMichaelsHabit oops sorry! I am on a very mundane Monday morning teams meeting so replying in between compulsory engagement with that 😂

@SisterMichaelsHabit
thank you for your responses! I do try retinol cream but to be honest I don’t think I stick with any for long enough to see any impact. I need to be more patient and stop expecting unrealistic overnight results!
