Any cosmetic nurses here? Pic attached - Do I need Botox or tear trough filler?

Sorry shamelessly posting for traffic and NC for this!

So I have always said I would never mess with my face but 3 kids and general life has caught up with me and I find myself in my late 30s CONSTANTLY looking puffy and tired around the eyes!

I have tried all the creams, drink lots of water, do have the occasional bottle of wine of a weekend but seems to always be the same.

Does anyone know what may help? I know I need to book a consultation and I will do but need pep talk - convincing that it’s not a huge mistake and it can actually work! Pic attached and as you can see I have dark circles, bags and a weird puffiness around the edges and corners of my eyelids.

Any advice on what could help? I don’t want to look different or even younger just not so shattered looking all the time!

Anyone with any experience or expertise??

You don’t need anything, but tear trough filler would look great and is very subtle as a filler location choice.

Go to a doctor. It’s a risky area and you should choose someone who has a cracking understanding of anatomy. Ideally, someone who uses ultrasound to guide. You will pay accordingly, though.

As an aside, it’s one of the more uncomfortable areas to have filler placed.

@Pleatherandlace oh thank you you are too kind! Perhaps a full face image would make you think differently though 🙈

@ToadOnTheHill
My make up routine is so basic and I am clueless with it! This is a really good shout, I am not fussed with looking my age at all but if I could look a less shattered version of my age that would be fantastic 😅 Thank you!

@Hibiscrubbed thank you - do you mind me asking how much you paid? I have seen it range from £200 through to £600. I think I will likely explore the make up consultation route first to see if that helps but I know I will come back to this eventually and would be good to know

Have you looked at Lumi eyes? The results are meant to be far better than tears trough fillers. I've been looking into these myself and have been completely put of the TTFs because they can go wrong so easily.

Having said all that I don't think you need anything doing you have lovely eyes!

Well, I have mine done as part of a wider ‘refresh’. I also get nasolabial, lips (very, very subtle), upper cheeks and some in temples. I have it done every 18-24 months and pay £1,800 for everything. That also includes some Botox in marionettes, crows feet and bunny lines.

That sounds a lot but you’d never know, I just look so much better. In my eyes. I don’t care what anyone else thinks!

@SisterMichaelsHabit oops sorry! I am on a very mundane Monday morning teams meeting so replying in between compulsory engagement with that 😂

Sorry wasn't me! I think this reply was maybe for @TheShellBeach ?

I really like origins under eye brightening cream. Maybe give that a try first.

Wholelotagrey · 06/11/2023 11:51

I’ve had tear trough and lumi eyes…. I’d certainly recommend the lumi eyes!

PaperSky · 06/11/2023 11:57

I had tear trough filler, and it didn’t make a massive difference, but it also did iyswim.

I just felt more refreshed, and most importantly, people have stopped telling me I ‘look tired’, and started saying I look well, which is nice.

Mine were bad indents though, which no make up or contouring/highlighting would hide.

Or maybe it would have, but I’m too lazy to be doing that morning.

Yours aren’t anywhere near how mine were though, but honestly if it makes you feel better I’d say do it. I’m glad I got mine done.

just be careful who you go to though.

Daffodil18 · 06/11/2023 12:15

You haven’t got bags but the skin is very thin and similar to mine before I had tear trough filler. Creams etc won’t do anything because it needs filling. Honestly go for it, it was the best money ever spent. It doesn’t even hurt. They put 1 needle under each eye and use a cannulae. It’s a different sort of filler to lips etc so it lasts 2-3 years.

NeunundneunzigHorseBallonz · 06/11/2023 12:26

Honestly think you would benefit from some YSL Touche Eclat more than Botox or Filler. Maybe a facial with some lymphatic drainage if you really feel blah

Citrusandginger · 06/11/2023 12:28

I'm not an aesthetics practitioner, but an associate I know once said that some people are better having cheek filler as it gives "scaffolding" to the eyes.

I'm sure an actual practitioner can explain better. (Or debunk Smile).

Hibiscrubbed · 06/11/2023 12:42

Also, being completely honest, no cream, make up or facial is going to change what you don’t like here. It might temporarily improve the look, but the only thing that will physically change it is an aesthetic treatment such as TT filler or Lumieyes.

It’s easy to rack up the amount the treatment would cost on expensive lotions and potions that don’t actually make a huge difference.

CollagenQueen · 06/11/2023 12:50

I’ve just had an upper and lower bleph, to remove eye bags and droopy lids. But I’m 53! So I’m not against getting stuff done. However, your eyes look gorgeous to me and extremely youthful. I don’t think you need anything. As a PP said, if you do get TTF you would also need some to the cheeks for scaffolding. This is what I was told when I asked my clinician about TTF. I never did go down that route, opting for surgery instead. I have a thread on here about my journey.

Londontown12 · 06/11/2023 13:02

My advise is quit the eye cream it can be too heavy for the eye area and cause puffiness !
L’Oréal do an eye concealer with stuff in it it’s an absolute game changer !! And get yourself one of those jade rollers and get into a routine and roll it over your face !
U do not need any thing doing x

CasaAmarela · 06/11/2023 13:11

I had tear rough filler along with a small amount of cheek filler. I had the cheek filler first as I'd heard it could help just by providing more support to the eye area but it didn't so I went ahead with the tear trough. I was pleased with it but it hasn't been life changing. I also had botox around my eyes once but hated it as it looked really unnatural how my eyes didn't move when I smiled. If you want something less invasive why don't you get some skin boosters? I get them regularly and absolutely love them - I can't stop looking in the mirror afterwards 😂

So true.

Don't waste your money on fancy eye creams, they're a dupe.

tara66 · 06/11/2023 13:25

There is cosmetic surgery for bags under the eyes - which you don't really have. I looked into it - the bags I was told were caused by fat in that area. The op. is to cut along the lower eye lash line area and remove the fat below eye area. No scaring shows. The bags do not re occur apparently. Don't know if this is still best procedure now.

cccarol · 06/11/2023 13:31

yes retinol cream is definitely the best way to go and your eyes are beautiful the retinol will help them keep that way xxx

CasaAmarela · 06/11/2023 13:41

Retinol won't fill in the lost fat pads around the eye area.

Goose22 · 06/11/2023 13:51

I would invest in skin treatments, such as profhilo and plenyhage. (My husband is a doctor with an aesthetics clinic so I get a lot of insight!)
Really invest in medical grade skincare - the likes of loreal etc aren't strong enough to do anything properly to your skin. Have a look at ZO obagi and always ALWAYS go to a doctor for treatments!

helpmytiredeyes · 06/11/2023 13:57

@Daffodil18 thank you - did you get swelling/brusing? And did you feel natural after? That’s exactly what I want to just look more refreshed

@CollagenQueen thank you lovely, I think I may go for a consultation with a reputable provider and go from there. It might finally make my mind up one way or another x

@Londontown12 thank you, I’ve not heard of that L’Oréal stuff will have a look. I’m really torn some days I’m not bothered and accept it but other days I am obsessed!
