If you've been to A&E due to pain, been there for 8hrs and now can't sleep then I'd definitely phone in sick.

Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve also got tickets to a choir event at the cathedral tomorrow it’s an hour long and 3 minutes walk from my house if I don’t go in to work I can’t go to this cab I

What's wrong with you?

Riverlee · 05/11/2023 03:31

If you’re ill, you’re ill.

if you’re too sick to go to work, you can’t go to the cathedral event.

( Now picturing that you live in a lovely area, as most cathedrals are located in historical areas).

@KateyCuckoo I’ve got endometriosis and it’s flaring up so I’m in a lot of pain my period is also extremely heavy. The event was supposed to be after work I’m going to give my tickets to my sister as I feel so unwell I know by the evening I will most likely feel drained and rubbish still. I’ve called in sick for tomorrow I text my manager and said. Do have to call in for sickness so will do that too tomorrow but thought an early text may make it easier for him to find cover.

Just try and calm down and stop feeling anxious about calling in sick, you're on some heavy painkillers there and probably not quite thinking straight. You aren't in a fit state to work, stop feeling guilty and look after yourself x

I’m an idiot though I was given more pain relief a drip and anti sickness so felt better last night was just so exhausted. the wait for the doctor was 5 hours. I decided to discharge myself as so I could go home and get some sleep for work as I didn’t want to call in sick. I obviously got home and got straight into bed but kept waking up due to sickness and eventually the pain coming back. Although had I stayed the doctor wouldn’t have been able to do anything as I was on max pain medication and there is no other treatment for my condition.

I used to be like that over jobs it used to make me feel so anxious and sick to my stomach the thought of calling in sick. I went into work after some truly horrific experiences when i really shouldnt have. Did you happen to be raised in a way where you were never allowed to be off school and put under pressure from parent(s)?

It took a long time and then I really hit the FUCK IT button. It's a complete mindset change. Yes it's a hassle for them you being off but so what, your employers should have a contingency plan for absence and that isn't your problem. Your problem and priorities is looking after your health not their business. You're leaving anyway. You've been to a&e, this is well worthy of calling in sick so stop worrying.

Don't ever forget that if companies need to make redundancies, employees are just a number to them and they will happily let them go without a seconds thought for the economics of the business. Take the emotion out of it and apply the same principle back at them.

Please rest if you can. Best of luck- it's a horrible condition you have my sympathy

Wonkydonkey2 · 05/11/2023 06:56

I’d probably just curl up and rest, but that’s me.

Wonkydonkey2 · 05/11/2023 10:19
