To wonder how I’ll cope

The company I worked for had to shut down. I wasn’t eligible for redundancy payment as I wasn’t there long enough. I’m a single parent with 4 year old. I have recently been moved onto universal credit. They are paying my housing costs but I am left with less than £600 a month to live on and this includes bills. I’ve applied for so many jobs and not heard a thing back from any. Any tips on how to make £600 a month last? This will include council tax, gas and electric on a prepayment meter, water bill, and petrol and car insurance. I can’t get rid of my car as my daughter is at a school outside of our village and I think having a car will improve my chances at getting a job. Thank you for reading!

Sorry this has happened to you!
Have you worked out how much you’ll have after all the bills have been paid as that would be a great starting point?

Ways to save money each month:

  1. shop at Aldi or Lidl and batch cook. Look out for reduced bargains.
  2. If you need any clothing etc see if you can buy it on Vinted first. I bought a brand new Next dressing gown for £6 this month. And winter stuff for DC.
  3. have a clear out and sell things on Vinted. Have you got any old toys or clothes to sell?
