See floor plan picture. We have two choices, A or B.
L is living room. PR/S is play room study. UR is utility room. D is dining room. K is kitchen. Black triangles are doors. Between living room and playroom/study is sliding doors. Between kitchen and dining room is archway.
Shaded bit is hallway. So the difference is the hallway and utility room.
Thoughts please you clever people?

B with a pocket (sliding) door to UR. That’s what I did with mine and it’s very useful in a small space with large appliances.

it’s hard to tell how big the space is without dimensions, but if you have enough space I would consider a washroom together with the UR. This would almost certainly add value to your house.

B

B. One of my must haves when we designed our house was a utility room that could be closed off and you didn't have to go through the utility room to get to another room or to a back door. Was definitely the right decision for us. I usually have 2 clothes horses up constantly and I can close the door so guests have no reason to see it. And it's a decent sized space so I set stuff in there out of sight when needed

Definitely B. As pp says I would put sliding pocket door on utility room.

B

Much better to be able to shit away sound of washing machine and/or dryer and not have to walk between it.

B but swap kitchen and dining round or open plan

B, once the utility room has a door!

But depending on the layout if the kitchen I might not bother with the door from the dining room to hall, and just go through the kitchen. If it's an arch, it feels like one room anyway and I bet that 99.9% of the time you won't use that door.

B from me as well!

It's a pity you can't change the kitchen as you are missing out on the back garden
