Poor service from Boots.

Am I being unreasonable to be so annoyed? This is the worst service I’ve received in as long as I can remember. I’m curious to know if anyone else has experienced something similar.

10th - tried to order 6 items that were on offer for £10 Tuesday. My order was declined as it failed the internal checks. Bit strange but I thought maybe it’s the quantity. I tried again 3 more times with fewer items. No luck. The app and website were very slow too. I went to lookfantastic instead who had the item at the same price and upgraded me to free next day delivery.

I then notice that I was charged for the first one. The other transactions came out but were refunded straight away. However Boots kept the payment for the first failed order. I contact Boots and they say the payment will be with me in 8 working days.

21st - funds still not with me. I email boots but it’s hopeless. The emails are all templates and the staff were a bit rude, telling me to check my balance against as it doesn’t show as a refund, my balance will just increase. Strange thing is, the first order also doesn’t show on my orders online. The other failed ones do. I call customer service and they say no one from payments is available. She promises a call by the end of the day. No call back but I do receive an email telling me the return process has started today and it will be another 8 days.

Today - I notice I still don’t have the funds so I raise a dispute through my bank. All the failed orders still show as pending. My bank give me the money back swiftly in the meantime, but will take this back if Boots doesn’t return the funds. I email them as I want to know what’s gone on. They reply to say they’ll pass on my concerns to the relevant department. When I ask what went wrong, they don’t have a clue what’s happened!! No consistency, just different people using similar templates. I explain the whole thing again and ask if they can pass it to someone who can help explain what’s gone wrong and what happens next.

I understand mistakes happen but there’s been no attempt to reassure me or make things right. It’s totally put me off Boots! I’m really disappointed.

AIBU and has anyone experienced anything like this with Boots?

Both you and boots are at fault as you did not check if money was pulled, and boots for being an arse and not refunding you.

I've had absolutely rubbish customer service from Boots lately. I had a small issue which was entirely their fault but could clearly be easily rectified and prevented in the future. I got in touch with customer service to let them know what had happened, just to give them a heads up; it really wasn't phrased or communicated as a complaint. I wasn't angry, mistakes happen! I just wanted to advise them that there was an issue. However, they were really very unpleasant to me.

All I expected was a "oh right sorry about that, thanks for letting us know", I wasn't after some grand apology or anything. But they were very combative and argumentative about what had happened, and the things they were saying to me barely even made sense.

I avoid them wherever possible now.

I realised the same day that the payment was taken! Been checking ever since.

Both Boots website and customer service is shit. It's for this reason I no longer shop with them.

Delayed delivery, inability to actually place an order on the useless website, inability to get any sense out of anyone, issues with the loyalty card etc etc. They really don’t do themselves any favours.
