Estate agent confidentiality

I left an abusive relationship with two young children. Their father is very wealthy, powerful, and controlling. We have been separated for over 5 years now. I viewed a couple of houses out of interest, without anyone knowing.. yet I’ve found out this information has been relayed to him, as he brought this up in an email saying he was informed by a vendor of the house in said location. Both were with different estate agents, and both the people I met were builders on site. I can only presume that the information that has been relayed from the estate agent? I’m upset as it puts me in a vulnerable position as I already have a lot of control exerted from me by him which I won’t go into. Am I being unreasonable to think this is a breach of confidentiality on the part of the estate agent? Where does this stand against GDPR? No doubt he’ll find this thread. I feel I can’t escape from this man, but it’s another level when people are feeding back information.

Why would two different estate agents know to tell him? Can you prove it? It could have been the builders. It could have been the vendors who know him

Any chance he can access your phone or emails? And has picked up what is going on that way?
I'd think it's very unlikely 2 estate agents let information like that slip.

Have you previously viewed houses with him and your details are linked on the system?

I don’t know which vendor or which estate agent it was. All I know is he was told by what he said was the vendor I was looking at houses in that area. X

But the vendor is the person selling the house. 'The vendors agent' would be the estate agent.

Sounds more like the vendor knew him and recognised your name? Even if you didn't meet them???

Both estate agents know I am linked to him. When I spoke to the builder on site at each, I never let any perosnal information out about myself, so they wouldn’t have known who I was other than if they were informed by the estate agent. I just can’t believe it’s still a managed to get back to my ex. Some one has told him, but my ex won’t disclose his source other than he was informed. No one else knew I viewed either house.

Is there spyware on your electronics? Tracker on your car?

If it was the vendor, why do you think the EA has done something wrong? And where do the builders come into it?

I'm sorry the outcome is shit for you, I agree with that, but I'm struggling to follow what's happened.

I agree that it's more likely that he's tracking you or can read your emails/messages.

The estate agent knows who you are, so they'd have told the builders and/or the vendor who was coming to view, surely?

One of my friends found her ex was accessing her laptop remotely.

When i was selling a house, the EA told me "Mrs X is coming on Tuesday at 4" "Mr Y and his partner Miss Z are coming Saturday at 11"

that's what they do, surely?

Do you have a really unusual married surname? It's really normal for EAs to say the surname of the viewer to the vendor.

So the vendor is the person selling, so would be the builder who showed me round? Very odd to have known who I was but not mentioned it at the time but inform him. Construction is not a world my ex is involved in. I just feels my ex constantly knows everything about me.

I suspect he's spying on you a different way and said it's the vendor to throw you off the scent. Tracker on car or phone, reading emails etc.

But the vendor would tell the builder who was coming wouldn't they?

I am sorry but I really don't understand what the issue is? It's normal for an estate agent to give your name to the vendor and that to be given to whoever is showing you round.

Do does the same person own both houses, it's a little confusing

He’s tracking you or accessing your emails/mobile phone.

Is he wealthy enough to have a private dick follow you?

The good thing is that now you know he is accessing your emails.

Get a different email address and restore your laptop to factory settings.

It's likely he is reading your emails and has full access to your computer/phone somehow. There are various ways to do it.

(I know a guy who tracked his wife's every Internet search as their sons pokemon account used her email address and logged in via Google!)

I'd be going to see an IT expert and stop using your phone and computer. Use a public library for the Internet to find and IT expert.
