Why won't he just tell me?!

My boss had a meeting with our Board of Directors yesterday about me and my role. I know my job is under threat with likely redundancy so I have suggested some ways we could move forward with me staying in the company.

Boss sent me a WhatsApp message this morning asking if the Board had contacted me, I said no and asked how the meeting went. He said 'good. I will fill you in on Monday.'

FFS why can't he just tell me now?

AIBU to put a call in his diary this afternoon or should I be patient and wait until Monday?

It sounds quite positive. But I’d message him again asking him to give you a quick call or you’ll be stressing about it all weekend. That way, he won’t get annoyed with you for adding things to his diary when he’s told you he’d update you on Monday.

He told you the meeting went well. Obviously he needs more time to talk to you about all the details of the future plans on Monday. I am guessing the amount of detail is probably not feasible to discuss over WhatsApp.
I would be comfortable waiting.
For context, I am in a very similar position so totally get the anxiety you are going through but it sounds as though they found the way to move forward with your post.

Okay thanks both. I replied asking if he's able to give an overview of what they are thinking and he said he will message me later today. Let's hope he does.

If not will just have to wait.

Good luck @Catza I hope you get positive news.

Good luck to both of you 💐

Boss is a wanker. Do you really want to stay there?

JustTellMeNow · 03/11/2023 12:20

I do want to stay. Like the job, good money, really convenient.

I rejected drunken advances from boss recently and wonder if there is a link to my role being under threat.

Maybe there are things he needs to check/finalise/get signed off before he tells you anything?

I've been in situations where a decision's been made about offering someone a new role or a job change, but I haven't been able to tell them anything until I've had the paperwork through from HR, which doesn't always happen on the same day the decision was made. I sympathise, though - it's horrible to be left hanging like that.

Well I was right about h the wanker part then.

xILikeJamx · 03/11/2023 13:41

Absolutely phone him today and ask for clarification. No point wasting your weekend worrying about what's going to happen

Oh blimey, that does put a new angle on things. What an arsehole (him, not you).
