I spoke to a doctor today about a particular one that is painful to wear shoes where is rubs. It's not very big. Anyway, she asked me if I had any more and I said yes I have a couple of tiny ones on that same leg on the calf (really not that noticeable) and a few on both thighs. She seemed concerned and said it might need to be looked into! I said, don't most people my age (40) have some? She didn't seem to agree with that so just wondered if I am right or is it to be taken seriously?

I was told by the gp that they're just cosmetic.

Im covered whole of outer thighs, and calfs. Have for over 10 years now in 40s

creativegoblin · 02/11/2023 14:11

The answer is that they can be a sign of liver disease but may be of no consequence

AngryBird6122 · 02/11/2023 14:16

@creativegoblin ah yes, that is what she mentioned (liver) I'm so bloody stupid. I was thinking she meant it from a circulation point of view!!

So most people my age have at least a couple?

My legs are completely covered in them and they started when I was about 30. I just put it down to genetics and my fair skin.
My liver is fine (recent blood tests, liver ultrasound and CT scan for another health issue).

AngryBird6122 · 02/11/2023 19:07

@pharmachameleon thank you. Can I ask if any of yours hurt?

I'm 46. I have a few at the bottom of my legs above my ankles. They don't hurt

pharmachameleon · 02/11/2023 19:16

No they don't hurt at all. I have the start of a varicose vein and that aches a bit but I wouldn't say it was sore

AngryBird6122 · 02/11/2023 19:26

Ok thank you
