Would I BU to just arrange something during the day for DH, DS and myself for my soon to be 2yo birthday? Catch up with GPs later on? Or would this be a bit shit. I can’t decide.

We live near GPs and they see DS weekly. I’m thinking nice morning with gifts and brekkie, then (expensive for adults hence thinking just us 2 and DS) day trip from 10-1ish, DS then naps then GPs can come over around 3.30/4 for tea and cake.

If you have GCs would be upset by this? Last year we all went out together but 6 adults to 1 child is a bit ridiculous really, and also dilutes the time we get to spend with our child on his birthday. He won’t have another weekend birthday for years and I’m a teacher so would value this time so much as I can’t take AL on his next birthdays.

That sounds perfectly fine and very normal to me.
GP’s have had their own little ones to do occasions with, you should spend it just the 3 of you if that’s what you would prefer.

That sounds lovely to me.
Enjoy the day. Take pictures and have them taken of you.

Sounds fine and normal! DS spent his first and second birthdays going through airports to go on holiday and we didn’t see extended family at all because so far his birthday has always been coincided with the start of half term.
