ANOTHER uti

not a troll, im a regular poster and have NC

Does anyone know, could genital psoriasis cause a uti? I’ve had frequent UTIs this year which never become too serious thankfully, but I’ve also been suffering badly from genital psoriasis which ive struggled to get under control. It gets infected really easily and I frequently end up on antibiotics as I get awful symptoms of extreme burning, itching as well as patches of visibly infected psoriasis around my vagina, both internally and externally. I had a bad flare up over the last 2 weeks which has become much worse now. There’s visibly infected areas of psoriasis on the skin on the inner and outer labia and I’m in agony with it. But I’ve also started now to get UTI symptoms too (discomfort, cloudiness in urine and constantly feeling like I need to go even when I’ve just been). I don’t know why this is only dawning on me now, but is it possible that the infected psoriasis causes the UTIs? Or vice Versa? No one has ever suggested or linked it but I’m starting to wonder now if they could be related somehow? I’m not asking for people to comment and tell me stories about their genital psoriasis (or any sort of textbook troll behaviour) but what I’m wondering is, am I the only person going through this?! I’ve never heard of anyone else with this as badly as I’ve got it and I would honestly be questioning if I had some sort of weird STD if it wasn’t for the fact that this problem has been so bad that I’ve avoided any sort of sexual contact and I’m a virgin so it can’t be an STD! But seriously, I feel like I’m not being taken seriously by doctors about it and I’ve become so used to having these infections and UTIs that it’s become normal. But this is a particularly bad one (I can tell from the symptoms) and I’m fed up of being in a constant cycle of psoriasis/infections/UTIs.

sorry, not sure the point of this post and it’s just become a bit of a jumbled up mess, but I feel so alone with this all

Sounds awful op.

I really don't know much about genital psoriasis, but I've been a frequent sufferer of uti's and for them I've found taking D Mannose and/or really concentrated high strength cranberry tablets (much stronger than normal juice) from Amazon, very effective at treating and preventing them - especially if I've been unable to get anti biotics.

Best of luck and I hope someone else who knows more can come along soon.

Second the D-mannose, cranberry plus probiotics (crowds out the E.coli) to help with recurrent UTI.

Also not sure having genital psoriasis make you more susceptible to UTI, but if you have had a UTI in the past, you are more susceptible to them recurring in the future.

Agree with the cranberry extra tablets only thing that cured my recurrent UtI's when I was younger. Once you get one you can be very prone to them reoccurring.

Have you seen a dermatologist for your psoriasis though as if the GP can't get it under control you should be able to ask for a referral.
