I invited her dd round (with another girl) after school today about 2 weeks ago. DD has been to her house. I see her mother daily.

DD wanted to have a tea party. I have bought pizza, made chocolate cake etc.

Now she can have none of it

argh
ffs
I have no time to get to shops and get alternative she will just have to have beans on toast

Why didn't she tell me before

Phone the friend's mother, explain the situation and ask for advice as what is best to do now at this late stage At least then she will know the frankly huge effort you have been to and realise she has spoilt tea for the excited girls

miku · 10/03/2008 12:07

i dont think theres any harm in other kids eating the cake n the allergy kid not....probaly used to it!but there are loadsa freefrom ranges in sains that you could get her, and dont knock yerself out.as already suggested an easy pasta, stress free.
it would be a good idea to find out level of tolerance to dairy.it is a bit off that the mum left it til the last minute to tell you tho'.

TheHonEnid · 10/03/2008 12:09

lol at experiment

go and buy some sausages and do sausages and chips and jelly

go on go on go on

dont give her beans on toast its not her fault

SheikYerbouti · 10/03/2008 12:09

Agree with Onlyaphase.

She might be able to provide an alternative herself

My frindss little boy has a protein allergy If she sends him round, she sends some carob chocolate for him and he has that so he doesn;t miss out on treats

She wouldn;t just drop it into conversation at the 11th hour either.

TheHonEnid · 10/03/2008 12:10

invite another friend round for tomorrow and do the cake then

PLEASE DONT PHONE THE MUM

attempt to be cool about it

Twiglett · 10/03/2008 12:11

give her beans on toast or call the mother and say you can't get out so if beans and toast not ok can she bring something round

cheeky mare!

CountessDracula · 10/03/2008 12:13

i am going to do pasta insterad of pizza
and will make jelly

OP posts:
TheHonEnid · 10/03/2008 12:13

god you miserable lot

suasgages chips and jelly and CHALK IT UP

yes annoying yes irritating yes waste of cake but really not little girls fault

SoupDragon · 10/03/2008 12:16

Eh? I'm not picking on you nailpolish.

CountessDracula · 10/03/2008 12:18

Did I say it was her fault?

It certainly ain't mine
ffs I work and I don't get tiem to pop to shops every 5 mins cos some silly bint can't tell me about an allergy more than 2 mins before

OP posts:
Twiglett · 10/03/2008 12:19

not little girl's fault

mother's fault

kids like beans on toast .. in what way is sausage and chips superior to beans on toast?

TheHonEnid · 10/03/2008 12:19

you have a lunch hour dont you?

come on, chin up, keep calm and carry on

TheHonEnid · 10/03/2008 12:20

beans on toast not a special tea

Twiglett · 10/03/2008 12:21

it is here!

beans are farkin' messy

sausage and chips definitely not a 'special meal' .. nor is pizza for that matter

CountessDracula · 10/03/2008 12:21

No i don't acutally

On Mondays I work til 2 then flog across London to pick dd up from school
I am on very tight timelines as it is

So should I then drag 3 5yos to waitrose in the pissing rain and howling wind, can;'t drive as have no seats for the other 2, so would be a good 45 mins round trip

OP posts:
TheHonEnid · 10/03/2008 12:24

yes yes I also work until 2 then have pick thre e up from various places

would still stop off and get sausages thgouh

lack of car rather shit though

pasta and jelly sounds nice

miku · 10/03/2008 12:25

itll be fine!hope you can de-stress!the girls will just have fun whatever they eat!!
