Hi!

does anyone know of any board games that kids like nowadays? I remember getting things like twister, buckaroo etc as a kid but not sure that’s popular right now! And also, for kids aged 8-9, does anyone know of any brands that would be seen as cool? It would be to get slippers and pjs and I’m guessing at that age kids prefer like fashionable stuff rather than character stuff like Disney, Barbie etc. or maybe character stuff is still preferred? it’s for a charity Christmas present and it’s for a girl aged 8-9 who has asked for board games, slippers and cosy pjs and the last thing I want to do is get them ones they don’t like or are embarrassed of etc. money isn’t an issue but just really out of touch with fashion etc and what brands are cool for that age group!

as a side point- in case anyone wasn’t aware already, Dunelm stores have a Christmas tree in all their stores with tags on it for present requests from children or vulnerable adults who otherwise would not receive it. Some of the requests are utterly heartbreaking (there was a tag from a 5 year old asking for a hot water bottle and warm pjs) just in case anyone wasn’t aware already x

Op, this is such a lovely, thoughtful thing. I live in a small town and nowhere near a Dunelm but you've inspired me to see if there's anything like this locally to me.

RE the present requests, I think Monopoly is still popular - they do all sorts of variations nowadays. I think the Animal Crossing version would be popular around that age. And it's not really a board game, but Dobble is definitely worth a look! It's really simple and great fun for all ages (again lots of versions).

Without knowing what their interests are, I'd stay away from anything character related for the pyjamas/slippers. Next have some really lovely sets that would work. I'd possibly also include a snuggly dressing gown if the budget allows for this.
