Didn't get a speeding ticket?

I have a lease car and on Friday 13th I believe I was caught driving 40 on a road I thought was a 40 but is a 30
It was an unmarked police van only marked at the back

I haven't received a letter from them but as I lease my car would the penalty notice go to my lease company? In which case does anyone know how long that typically takes?

Thanks

Who has the registration document?

Kelta · 29/10/2023 19:48

Yes it would go to the lease company if the car is registered in their name. However they have to be served with the notice of intention to prosecute within 14 days of the offence. You might get away with it since they don’t always get the documents out in time so check the date in the notice when it comes through to you.

Not sure about speeding tickets as ive not recieved one of them, but parking fines have been sent to my leas3 company who then forward a copy of the letter to myself via email. Timeline for latest one - 5.10.23 parked car and didnt pay for parking, 13.10.23 parking fine was issued, 20.10.23 lease company forwarded me the letter via email.

It probably would go to the lease company, yes. I got a parking ticket and it went to the lease company. My lease company have got a system you can opt for where they contact you immediately by email if you get a ticket or fine, rather than just redirecting the letter to you which can take a long time. It can take a while to get the ticket in the first place and then longer again for you to get it, so it is possible you will still get one.

Sometimes they are not actually recording in the vans though, so maybe you won’t!

It's the leasing company that have the ownership document
I just logged into the portal and the only invoice on there is for the months leasing
I'm wondering if the van didn't actually get me then?
I've been beating myself up about it for two weeks

You've got 14 days to get a notice of intended prosecution.

DappledThings · 29/10/2023 20:14

Just being seen speeding doesn't automatically mean a ticket. I've been flashed twice and nothing's happened.

LIZS · 29/10/2023 20:14

It will go to the company first.

leasechick · 29/10/2023 20:18

It's been over 14 days now so I'm wondering if that means I didn't get one

My boss has a lease car and it took 3 weeks before they invoiced him for the speeding ticket he got...sorry to be the bearer of bad news

SoAndSoSaidSo · 29/10/2023 20:25

DH has a company car and anything goes to his work where it is registered too.

Createausername1970 · 29/10/2023 20:28

I believe it will go to the leasing company. As it's speeding, they cannot do anything other than respond to the police and provide your details. The police will then get in touch with you.

The notice of intended prosecution has to go to the registered keeper within 14 days. The lease company is the registered keeper from what you have said. You could have quite a wait before you know as they'll need to respond then providing they name you, you'll have to wait for the police to write to you. Sorry OP but it may be a little while before you find anything out.

Pipersouth · 29/10/2023 20:32

They might charge an admin fee aswell to provide your details to the police Im afraid

maddening · 29/10/2023 20:33

You never know, it may be looking for untaxed or uninsured vehicles and not a speed trap
