apologies, im a bit clueless about this all!

I’ve got a cut from surgery a week ago and im supposed to clean the area gently to keep it clean and remove any crusts of blood etc. I was given individual capsules of saline to use but I’ve only got 1 left. I was just wondering, would it be ok to use cooked boiled saltwater? Or will that sting like crazy because of the salt?

its dissolvable stitches if that makes any difference

thanks in advance!

You can buy saline solution for wound care.
I would just use cooled, boiled water until you are able to get some.

Should be fine but you can get saline from the chemist

Generally, in first aid wound care you can use tap water. Cooled boiled water with a little salt sounds good to me but I'm not a surgeon/wound care expert.

After having been cut during delivery of my baby, I was told to bath in salt water, it helped to heal the wound, so I'm sure you'll be fine if you boil some water, add salt, and allow it to cool, OP.

I recently has surgery on my nose with stitches and was advised cool boiled water, salt and bicarbonate of soda. If I remember correctly 150mls water, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 of a teaspoon of bicarbonate. Fresh each use x

District nurse here, whilst saline is good, tap water is absolutely fine, you don’t need to boil it or add salt.
