My friend has his own shop where everything is hand made , he makes his own products and stocks hand made products for others as a collective,

He's just text me in a panic , a little old lady came in and bought these .....

He's now worrying in case it's the grandsons xmas present

I think xmas day could be interesting in one house in the north of England 😂🙈

To think my friend is going to hell

Yes it is true.

When you get to 80 you COMPLETELY FORGET what an anus is. It as if you have lived for 80 WHOLE FUCKING YEARS without ever knowing what an anus is, what a joke is, and you need it to be teensplained to you.

MadeOfAllWork · 27/10/2023 16:55

You know that little old ladies in their 80s lived their 20s in the 60s. They aren’t Victorians who are going to have heart failure the mention of bums.

momtoboys · 27/10/2023 16:55

Do you lose your sense of humor after a certain age? Learn something new everyday!

My "little old lady" Mum (also a granny) bought a rubber stamp that read "bullshit" so she could amuse herself by stamping it on nonsense paperwork.

Love this

Ididivfama · 27/10/2023 16:57

This is hilarious!!

Most elderly women do not want to buy anus joke socks for children in their lives.

welcometothnuthouse · 27/10/2023 16:57

Why do some people think older people are so naive? I doubt there are many Victorian thinking peeps alive. But even Vic and Al apparently had their moments.
My in laws [in their 80's] enjoyed 'Lady Chatterley's lover' when they saw it on dvd a few years back. Apparently it reminded them of their own outdoor adventures, when they were young!😆

I love this! I think I need one and I might buy my mum one too 😂

From Amazon?
Just asking for an ‘old’ friend 🙄

Why do some people think older people are so naive?

And so little?!

I was in hospital recently and a lady in her 70s next to me had some of the nurses squealing at her: "What was the war like for you, luvvie?" in an effort to make conversation.
She wasn't bloody born.

capabilityfrowns · 27/10/2023 17:04

Ok it was meant to be a lighthearted thread not a lesson on ageism . He didn't say anything and she bought them so all is well .

My friend feels guilty because he feels like he should have explained the joke which suggested she didn't get it .

How on earth would he know she didn't get it? She was hardly likely to start sniggering about it with the guy selling them to her 😵‍💫

LaMarschallin · 27/10/2023 17:06

capabilityfrowns

She might be into rimming yes.

Surely not.
Anything other than missionary position sex probably wasn't invented until you came of age, I expect.

MargaretThursday · 27/10/2023 17:10

Tbf I am totally confident that my parents (in their 70s) would not have considered it to be anything other than a nice picture of a planet. If they'd noticed the hyphen they'd have assumed it was an error.
So it's certainly possible that the lady bought it in innocence. I can also say that if my dc got given it by my parents, that they'd thank them nicely, and not mention it until later when they'd have had a little giggle.

I have occasionally had to explain something to my parents I'd rather not, but I'd leave that one without any guilt at all.

ManchesterLu · 27/10/2023 17:11

I mean, this may shock you, but even the elderly know what an anus is..

SunshineYay · 27/10/2023 17:13

If she's in her 80s then her grandson will probably be an adult and find this hilarious.

I read your post as lighthearted bit of fun for Friday night, dunno why you're getting so much grief, some posters must have seen their arses as the saying goes lol see what I did there 😁

Maybe it was that poster who said you could see people's anus in scunch bum leggings? Maybe she brought it for her teenage DGD 🤣

oakleaffy · 27/10/2023 17:15

Necadalooshi · 27/10/2023 16:24

My Mum bought a headscarf when she had cancer, proudly wore it all round town until she saw my sister who said, Mum, do know that the print is canabis leaf? My Mum found this hilarious, had no idea but it didn't stop her wearing it. She was a lovely mischievous woman.

That’s so lovely!
Your Mum might have thought they were maple ( Acer) leaves.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 27/10/2023 17:15

On a complete aside, those socks don't look handmade. He should possibly be worried about trade descriptions if he claims everything is handmade.

It's a collective so not EVERYTHING is handmade and nor is it advertised as such so again, don't worry .

Hilarious, that should read 😂

He doesn't think she read them

He's now wracked with guilt thinking he should have explained the joke .....

How old was the little old lady who couldn't read that? Or see the childish humour in it

saveforthat · 27/10/2023 17:20

Cinateel · 27/10/2023 16:44

My husband (79) and I (74) often laugh about what young people would think if they could hear our conversations when we are at home alone. You have to remember that "little old lady" was probably a teenager in the sixties. It's unlikely she's as innocent and naive as she looks

This.
